Arizona 34, Utah 24: Ka’Deem Carey followed up his Pac-12 record-setting performance with 204 rushing yards and Austin Hill caught the go-ahead touchdown pass as the visiting Wildcats upended the Utes in Pac-12 play.
Carey has 570 yards over the past two games, including his epic 366-yard showing against Colorado a week ago, as Arizona (7-4, 4-4) won its first road game of the season.
The Wildcats took a 31-24 lead when Matt Scott threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Hill with 11:07 to play. John Bonano kicked a 24-yard field goal with 1:15 remaining to ensure that Utah (4-7, 2-6) will finish below .500 after making nine straight bowl appearances.
John White rushed for 112 yards for the Utes, who trailed by 10 midway through the second quarter before scoring 17 consecutive points to take a 24-17 lead. Travis Wilson connected on touchdown passes of 34 yards to Jake Murphy and 36 yards to DeVonte Christopher. Arizona tied the game at 24-24 on a 2-yard run by Daniel Jenkins with 13:55 remaining.
Utah led 7-3 early in the second quarter after kicker Coleman Petersen received a pitch on a fake field goal and scored on a 3-yard run. The Wildcats answered with a 1-yard scoring run by Carey and a 10-yard keeper by Scott to take a 17-7 edge with 7:59 left in the half.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The road victory is only Arizona’s second in its last 12 opportunities. … White topped 100 yards for the fourth straight game, and the Utes dropped to 11-2 when he hits the century mark. … Hill caught six passes for 96 yards and the touchdown reception was his eighth of the season.
