Louisiana 34, ULM 27: Terrance Broadway threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another 94 yards and a score as the visiting Ragin’ Cajuns remained unbeaten in Sun Belt League play.
Alonzo Harris led the ground attack with 133 rushing yards and Elijah McGuire ran for a touchdown for Louisiana (7-3, 6-0 Sun Belt). James Butler caught four passes for 61 yards to lead the receiving corps.
Pete Thomas completed 38-of-54 passes for 472 yards and two touchdowns for ULM (3-7, 2-4). Rashon Ceaser had 11 catches for 120 yards and a touchdown and Ajalen Holley caught three passes for 105 yards, but the Warhawks were held to minus-39 yards rushing, including sacks.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Ragin’ Cajuns gave themselves some breathing room when Jake Molbert forced a fumble and teammate Justin Hamilton recovered, giving Louisiana the ball at the ULM 16 and, three plays later, Broadway scored on a 12-yard run for a 27-13 lead with 11 minutes remaining. ULM came back and pulled within seven on Thomas’s 2-yard TD run, but Broadway connected with Gabe Fuselier on a 36-yard scoring strike with 2:53 remaining to stretch the lead back to two touchdowns.
Louisiana scored on its first four possessions; two touchdowns sandwiched around two field goals by Hunter Stover, before Stover ended that streak when he missed from 46 yards with 51 seconds left in the first half. ULM got a 5-yard TD pass from Thomas to Kenzee Jackson and two field goals from Justin Manton, the second as time expired to end the first half, trimming the deficit to 20-13 at the break.
