Maryland 41, North Carolina State 21: C.J. Brown rushed for three scores and threw for two more as the Terrapins closed out their final game in the ACC with a win over the host Wolfpack.
Nigel King and Albert Reid each had a receiving touchdown for Maryland (7-5, 3-5 ACC), which accounted for 432 yards of total offense. Amba Etta-Tawo caught four passes for 101 yards while Brown finished with 259 yards passing and 138 rushing.
Brandon Mitchell threw for two scores and added a rushing touchdown for North Carolina State (3-9, 0-8), which lost its eighth consecutive game. Shadrach Thornton contributed 96 yards rushing and Rashard Smith had 67 yards receiving with a score.
The Wolfpack got on the board first after Mitchell connected with Tyler Purvis on a 3-yard score, but the Terrapins followed with 34 unanswered points in the first half. Mitchell threw for a second score to Smith before the break, but the damage had already been done as Maryland took a commanding 34-14 lead into halftime.
Brown, who rushed for three scores and threw for another in the first half, added a second touchdown pass to Reid in the third quarter while Mitchell found the end zone on a 3-yard run. Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Terrapins ran out the clock for the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: North Carolina State DT Monty Nelson left in the second quarter with a thigh injury and did not return. ... Brown was just 36 yards short of tying his single-season record of 574 yards rushing in 2011. ... Maryland played its last game in the ACC and will be a member of the Big Ten next season.
