Michigan State 17, TCU 16: Dan Conroy kicked a 47-yard field goal with 1:01 to play to give the Spartans the win in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Tempe, Ariz.
Michigan State rallied from a 13-0 halftime deficit to take a 14-13 lead on a 4-yard run by Le'Veon Bell midway through the fourth quarter before TCU reclaimed the lead on a 53-yard field goal by Jaden Oberkrom with 2:42 to play.
The Spartans, who lost five games by a combined 12 points this season, marched 45 yards on eight plays led by backup quarterback Connor Cook to position Conroy for the game-winning kick. Bell rebounded from a poor first half to rush for 145 yards, surpassing the century mark for the eight time this season.
TCU (7-6) dominated the first half, outgaining Michigan State 203-76. Matthew Tucker opened the scoring by taking a handoff from the slot on a third-and-goal from the 4-yard line to give TCU a 7-0 lead with 5:45 left in the first quarter. The Horned Frogs extended their lead with field goals of 47 and 31 yards by Oberkrom on their first two possessions of the second quarter.
The Spartans (7-6) got on the board on a 15-yard scoring pass from Cook to Aaron Burbridge. The extra point cut the deficit to 13-7 with 34 seconds left in the third quarter. Michigan State got a break when TCU's Skye Dawson couldn't catch a punt deep in his territory and RJ Williamson recovered the loose ball at the 4-yard line. Bell scored two plays later to give the Spartans a 14-13 lead with 7:00 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: TCU QB Trevone Boykin was 13-for-29 passing for 201 yards. He also rushed for 37 yards. ... The Big 12 slipped to 4-2 in bowl games and teams from Texas are 5-1. ... TCU's Josh Boyce set a school record with his 66th reception of the season.
