Middle Tennessee State 35, Florida Atlantic 34: Marcus Henry caught a 12-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal with 19 seconds left as the host Blue Raiders rallied from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Austin Grammer completed 20-of-27 for 160 yards and two touchdowns, connecting six times with Henry for 92 yards. Reggie Whatley rushed for 190 yards on 19 carries and scored three TDs for Middle Tennessee State (6-5, 5-2 Conference USA).
Florida Atlantic quarterback Jaquez Johnson was 21-for-33 for 304 yards and two touchdowns but was also intercepted twice. Jay Warren rushed for 95 yards and Lucky Whitehead finished with 86 rushing yards for the Owls (3-8, 2-5).
The Blue Raiders started their final drive on their own 30 with just over three minutes left and no timeouts remaining. They had first-and-goal from the 7, but Whatley lost 5 yards on his next carry and Grammer threw two straight incomplete passes before finding Henry.
Florida Atlantic scored on its first play from scrimmage, an 80-yard TD run by Whitehead and twice stretched the lead to 10 points in the first half. The Owls twice increased their lead to 13 in the second half, the final time with 5:50 left, but Middle Tennessee State rallied for two TDs in the final 4:15.
