North Texas 42, Tulsa 10: Brandin Byrd set career bests with 251 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead the visiting Mean Green over the Golden Hurricane in Conference USA action.
Antoinne Jimmerson added a pair of rushing touchdowns for North Texas (8-4, 6-2), which totaled 550 yards and allowed only 236. Derek Thompson threw for 173 yards on 17-of-26 passing for the Mean Green, who scored 35 unanswered points after trailing 10-7 in the first quarter.
Trey Watts ran for 114 yards for the Golden Hurricane (3-9, 2-6), who failed to manage an offensive touchdown. Tulsa employed three different quarterbacks in the game and all were ineffective, with Dane Evans, Joseph Calcagni and Cody Green combining for 114 yards and two interceptions on 14-of-38 attempts.
Trailing 7-0 after an early defensive score for Tulsa, Jimmerson capped a six-play, 53-yard drive for the Mean Green with a 12-yard scoring dash to knot the score. The Golden Hurricane managed a field goal on the ensuing drive before Jarrian Roberts returned a blocked punt eight yards for a touchdown and Byrd added a 10-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to put North Texas ahead 21-10 at halftime.
After the break, Byrd took the Mean Green's first second-half touch from scrimmage a career-long 91 yards for his second score and added a 2-yard scamper for his third touchdown late in the third quarter to put North Texas up 35-10. Jimmerson added a 31-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring as the visitors cruised down the stretch.
