No. 3 Oregon 51, No. 8 Arizona 13: Marcus Mariota passed for 313 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another 33 yards and three scores as the Ducks won the Pac-12 Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
Royce Freeman added 114 rushing yards as Oregon (12-1) accounted for 301 yards on the ground. Two receivers went over 100 yards for the Ducks as Darren Carrington finished with seven receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown and Charles Nelson caught seven passes for 104 yards.
Arizona quarterback Jesse Scroggins started the second half after Anu Solomon managed 11 total yards in the first half and Scroggins was 3-for-11 for 79 yards with a touchdown and interception before he was replaced by Jerrard Randall. Cayleb Jones caught two passes for 71 yards and a touchdown and Randall rushed for a team-high 81 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats (10-3).
Oregon’s high-powered offense was slow to ignite, managing two field goals in the opening quarter before scoring 17 points in the second for a 23-0 halftime lead. Oregon scored its first touchdown with 7:27 left in the first half as Mariota scampered 7 yards, skipping just inside the pylon for a 13-0 lead.
Another 4-yard touchdown run by Mariota and Aidan Schneider’s third field goal of the first half made it 23-0 at intermission. Arizona was stopped again on the opening drive of the second half and Oregon went down and took a 30-0 lead on Devon Allen’s 4-yard touchdown reception from Mariota.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Schneider had attempted five field goals on the season before trying four in the first half against the Wildcats. … Arizona had 25 total yards at halftime and was 0-for-7 on third downs. … Mariota moved past former USC QB Matt Leinart for second on the all-time Pac-12 list for career touchdown passes with 101.
