Philip Rivers passed for 244 yards and two touchdowns and rookie Jonathan Taylor rushed for a career-high 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead the visiting Indianapolis Colts to a 44-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon.
It was the 19th career victory against the Raiders for Rivers, who broke a tie with Hall of Famer John Elway for most career starts (29) against the franchise. Rivers, who completed 19 of 28 passes, also increased his touchdown passes to 49 and passing yards to 7,347, already the most among Raiders' opponents. Indianapolis (9-4) moved up to the sixth seed in the AFC playoff race with its fifth road win in seven tries this season.
T.Y. Hilton caught five passes for 86 yards and two touchdowns for the Colts, who rolled up 456 yards in total offense, including a season-best 212 rushing yards. Kenny Moore II led the defense with a highlight-reel one-handed interception in the end zone and also forced a fumble, and Khari Willis added a 53-yard interception return for a touchdown, the team's fourth pick-six of the season.
Derek Carr passed for 316 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another score but was intercepted twice for Las Vegas (7-6). Nelson Agholor caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders, who fell to just 2-4 at Allegiant Stadium.
Rivers and Hilton hooked up for touchdown passes of seven and 41 yards to go with Rodrigo Blankenship field goals of 25 and 20 yards as Indianapolis built a 20-14 halftime lead.
The Raiders, who got touchdown passes of 47 yards from Carr to Foster Moreau and 21 yards to Agholor in the first half, cut it to 20-17 on a 25-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson to cap a 13-play, 68-yard drive to open the second half.
But the Colts needed just five plays to increase their lead back to 10 points thanks to Taylor's 62-yard run off right tackle, the longest offensive play of the season for Indianapolis.
Las Vegas cut it to 27-20 on Carlson's 23-yard field goal, but the Colts answered with a 10-play, 75-yard drive with Taylor again scoring on a 3-yard run off right tackle to make it 34-20.
One play later, Moore forced a fumble after a short completion to Hunter Renfrow and Taylor Stallworth recovered at the Las Vegas 26. Blankenship then booted a 35-yard field goal to increase Indianapolis' lead to 37-20 with 6:50 to go.
The Colts then sealed the victory four plays later when Carr's pass went off the hands of Jalen Richard to Willis who returned it 53 yards up the left sideline to make it 44-20. Carr ended the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run with 55 seconds left.
