Kenny Lawler caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Austin Davis with 1:10 remaining, lifting the Seattle Seahawks to a 17-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders to conclude the preseason on Thursday night in Oakland.
Giorgio Tavecchio converted a 28-yard field goal with 3:46 to play, giving the Raiders the lead, before Davis led the game-winning drive. The Seahawks went 75 yards on seven plays with the aid of a pass-interference penalty to set up the go-ahead score.
Davis finished 10 of 16 for 123 yards and a touchdown.
Seattle's Otha Peters intercepted a deflected Connor Cook pass on the final drive to seal the win.
Few starters played for either team as expanded rosters gave the clubs flexibility to hold out key pieces and evaluate players on the roster bubble more thoroughly.
On Oakland's opening possession, Seattle cornerback Neiko Thorpe punched the ball free from Raiders running back John Crockett. The loose ball was recovered by linebacker Terence Garvin and returned to the Oakland 9-yard line. Despite a three-and-out possession, Seattle took the lead on a 21-yard Blair Walsh field goal.
Trevone Boykin connected with Rodney Smith for a 34-yard touchdown to give the Seahawks a 10-0 advantage late in the first quarter. Smith was wide open after cornerback Dexter McDonald fell down in coverage.
The Raiders intercepted Boykin on each of Seattle's next two possessions. Shalom Luani hauled in an overthrow of Lawler as Boykin tried to force the ball into triple coverage. Breon Borders then picked off Boykin as he attempted to force a throw into Lawler in the red zone.
Boykin finished 13 of 21 for 166 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
Oakland converted the second interception into points as EJ Manuel led the Raiders on a 14-play, 94-yard drive capped with an 18-yard touchdown to Keon Hatcher to close the deficit to 10-7 before halftime.
A 34-yard Tavecchio field goal tied the game at 10-all in the third quarter, but a missed 36-yard attempt kept the game even until the closing minutes.
Manuel was 9 of 14 for 85 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders. Cook completed 8 of 19 passes for 88 yards and an interception.
George Atkinson gained 60 yards on just nine carries for Oakland.
