Titans 26, Chiefs 10: Jake Locker passed for 266 yards and two touchdowns as visiting Tennessee knocked off Kansas City.
Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright caught scoring passes as the Titans (1-0) won in the debut of new coach Ken Whisenhunt. Jason McCourty intercepted two passes and former Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop kicked four field goals.
Alex Smith was 19-of-35 for 202 yards and three interceptions for Kansas City (0-1). Star back Jamaal Charles had just 19 yards on seven carries and 15 receiving yards on four catches.
The Titans took the second-half kickoff and went 80 yards in nine plays with Locker connecting on a 6-yard scoring pass to Wright to take a 17-3 lead. McCourty’s second interception set up Succop’s 31-yard field goal and Succop kicked a 46-yarder early in the fourth to move Tennessee ahead 23-3 before the Chiefs found the end zone on Smith’s 5-yard pass to Anthony Fasano with 10:09 to play.
After a scoreless first quarter, Kansas City got on the board on a 35-yard field goal by Cairo Santos. The Titans took a 7-3 edge on Locker’s 5-yard scoring pass to Walker and Succop added a 36-yard field goal with three seconds left to give Tennessee a 10-3 halftime advantage.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Chiefs sustained a pair of devastating injuries when LB Derrick Johnson and DE Mike DeVito each ruptured their Achilles' tendon, likely ending their seasons. ...
