Orton converted a fourth-and-20 on the winning drive and hit Chris Hogan with a 28-yard pass to get to the Minnesota 2-yard line before spiking the ball and hitting Watkins on the next play for the score. The point after gave the Bills (4-3) the win as Orton went 31-of-43 for 283 yards and two touchdowns and Watkins caught nine passes for 122 yards and both scores.
Buffalo lost running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Jerick McKinnon ran for 103 yards and Cordarrelle Patterson caught a scoring pass for Minnesota.
Bridgewater was intercepted deep inside his own territory in the second quarter and Orton hit Watkins on the right side with a 26-yard TD on the next play to give the Bills a 7-3 lead. Bridgewater battled back and connected with Patterson for a 4-yard score on the ensuing possession before a field goal apiece sent the Vikings into the break up 13-10.
Blair Walsh’s 33-yard field goal with 11:47 to play made it a 16-10 gap in favor of Minnesota. The Bills punted on the ensuing possession but marched 80 yards on their final chance, with Orton completing a third-and-12 in addition to the fourth-and-20 to keep the drive alive.
