Chiefs 24, Jets 10: Alex Smith threw a pair of touchdown passes and Jamaal Charles ran for a score as Kansas City breezed past visiting New York.
Smith finished 21-of-31 for 199 yards and Charles churned out 78 yards on the ground for the Chiefs (5-3), who have won three straight and five of six. Tight ends Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano each hauled in a touchdown catch while the defense took care of the rest for Kansas City.
Michael Vick went 21-of-28 for 196 yards and a TD against the NFL’s top-ranked pass defense as the Jets (1-8) dropped their eighth straight game. Percy Harvin recorded his first 100-yard receiving performance since 2012 with 11 catches for 129 yards and wideout Eric Decker scored New York's lone touchdown.
Charles capped the game's opening drive with a 1-yard TD and Smith had his pass batted in the air at the line by Calvin Pace deep in Jets territory on the Chiefs’ next drive. The batted ball landed right in the arms of Fasano, who was sitting on the ground when it landed in his lap and just reached across the goal line for the score to make it 14-0.
Vick got New York on the board with a 3-yard TD pass to Decker with 2:09 left in the first half, but a long kickoff return set up Smith’s 12-yard scoring toss to Kelce before Harvin’s long return on the ensuing kick set up Nick Folk's field goal to make it 21-10 at the break. Kansas City capped an eight-minute drive to begin the third quarter with a 19-yard field goal by Cairo Santos and held off the Jets the rest of the way.
