EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Russell Wilson showed no signs of his leg injuries Sunday afternoon, when the Seattle Seahawks quarterback carved up the New York Jets for 309 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-17 win at MetLife Stadium.
The Seahawks (3-1) have scored a total of 64 points in their last two wins after scoring just 15 points in the first two games of the season.
The Jets (1-3) are headed in the other direction with two straight losses, a stretch in with they've scored 20 points. New York scored 59 points in splitting its first two games.
Wilson, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the season opener and a left knee sprain last Sunday, went 23-of-32 passing, including 10-of-11 in the first half. The usually mobile quarterback ran by design only once but showed his usual poise and patience in the pocket as he exploited a tattered Jets secondary with pinpoint passes to targets new and old alike.
Wilson's first touchdown pass went to running back C.J. Spiller, who signed with the team Wednesday. Rookie Tanner McEvoy's first NFL catch went for a touchdown in the second quarter while running back Christine Michael caught his first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Tight end Jimmy Graham had six catches for 113 yards. Michael had 90 all-purpose yards on 18 carries and five catches while kicker Steven Hauschka was 2-for-2 on field goals.
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, fresh off a six-interception game in a 24-3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, was 23 of 41 for 261 yards with one touchdown -- a 17-yard strike to Brandon Marshall -- and three interceptions.
Charone Peake scored on a 40-yard fumble return after Fitzpatrick fumbled late in the fourth quarter.
A 33-yard field goal by Nick Folk capped the Jets' first drive and gave New York a 3-0 lead it carried into the second quarter. A surgical Wilson went 8-for-8 during a pair of second quarter scoring drives that ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Spiller and a 42-yard-touchdown pass to a wide-open McEvoy.
The Jets pulled within 14-10 in the final seconds of the half, when Marshall beat Richard Sherman and caught a perfectly-placed back shoulder pass from Fitzpatrick for a 17-yard touchdown.
Hauschka's 33- and 53-yard field goals sandwiched Michael's 6-yard touchdown catch before Peake pulled the Jets within 10 with his first NFL score.
NOTES: Among the Jets' inactives was TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who was claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Monday but practiced only twice during the week. WR Eric Decker (rotator cuff tear) was also inactive and is listed as week-to-week by the Jets. ... Among the Seahawks' inactives was RB Thomas Rawls (fractured fibula). Seattle general manager John Schneider said during a radio interview Sunday morning that Rawls, who was injured Sept. 17, will likely be out for another month. ... Jets RG Brian Winters left with a head injury after head-butting DE Michael Bennett in the second quarter. Winters was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play. ... Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who was the Jets' head coach in 1994, coached against the Jets for the eighth time.
