The Cleveland Browns received more hype in the summer than most big-budget blockbuster movies, only to fizzle out of the gate with a pair of lackluster showings in a three-week stretch. The Browns, however, breathed new life into their season with a pronounced victory over a bitter rival and look to ride that momentum into Monday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

"We know how good we can be. That's the frustrating part about how we started," said brash quarterback Baker Mayfield, who threw for 342 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland's 40-25 victory over Baltimore last Sunday. Nick Chubb did most of the heavy lifting with 165 yards and a career-high three scores for the Browns, who are bidding for their first 3-0 start on the road since 1994 against a San Francisco club that is vying for its first 4-0 beginning to a season since 1990. "That is good, but that doesn't mean anything," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said of his team's unblemished start. "I've been 5-0 and not made the playoffs before, so that doesn't mean much." San Francisco exited its bye week having likely burned the tape of a mistake-filled 24-20 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 22, a game in which Jimmy Garoppolo was responsible for three (two interceptions, one fumble) of the team's five turnovers.

ABOUT THE BROWNS (2-2): While Odell Beckham Jr. was kept in check versus the Ravens, former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry reeled in a season-high eight catches for a career-best 167 yards before sustaining a concussion in the fourth quarter. Landry's availability for Monday's tilt is in question, although second-year wideout Antonio Callaway is slated to make his season debut after serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The speedy Callaway scored five touchdowns during his rookie campaign, with three coming in the final six games. Defensive end Myles Garrett has recorded seven sacks in his past five games heading into a tilt versus San Francisco, which leads the NFL by yielding just two this season.

ABOUT THE 49ERS (3-0): San Francisco's offense may not be keeping the scoreboard operator busy, but it has caught the eye of the greatest wide receiver in NFL history. "I think they're playing, they're winning, by committee," Hall of Famer Jerry Rice said on The 49ers Insider Podcast. "... I think these guys are going to continue to put up numbers, and I think Jimmy G is going to feed them." Tight end George Kittle has proven to be Garoppolo's most trusted target, although he has yet to find the end zone despite his team-leading totals in catches (17) and receiving yards (165). Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida combined to rush for 147 yards on 26 carries against the Steelers before undrafted Jeff Wilson Jr. capped a pair of drives by scoring two touchdowns for the second time in three games.
