Last Meeting ( Mar 18, 2019 ) Winnipeg 3, Los Angeles 2

The Los Angeles Kings needed a spark to snap a three-game home losing streak, and Jonathan Quick and Jeff Carter delivered to provide a much-needed victory heading into Tuesday’s road trip opener at the Winnipeg Jets. Quick, who had allowed 19 goals in losing his first three appearances of the season, stopped 23-of-24 shots while Carter recorded a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Calgary, as the Kings' offense came to life after back-to-back shutouts.

“I feel like a broken record, but that guy has saved my buns so many times throughout my career,” Kings defenseman Alec Martinez told the media postgame in describing Quick, who entered Saturday with a 6.43 goals against average and .793 save percentage before earning his 310th career victory (tying former Thrashers and Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen for 30th on the all-time list). The Kings hit the road for four games against Central Division opposition starting in Winnipeg, where the Jets shaky defense played as well as it has all season in Sunday’s 1-0 shootout victory over Edmonton. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck registered 28 saves and the Jets gave up fewer than three goals for the fourth time in 10 games, giving forwards Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine the opportunity to score in the shootout as Winnipeg snapped its own three-game home losing streak. “Our group stayed in the fight for the most part and gave us a chance to win a hockey game,” Jets captain Blake Wheeler told reporters postgame.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FS West (Los Angeles), TSN3 (Winnipeg)

ABOUT THE KINGS (3-5-0): Los Angeles had gone 136 minutes, 34 seconds without a goal before center Tyler Toffoli netted his third of the season 1:15 into Saturday’s contest. Martinez finished plus-3 with an assist while forward Ilya Kovalchuk’s third-period power-play goal snapped the Kings 0-for-19 drought with the man advantage. The Kings finished with 36 shots on goal Sunday and began the week second in the NHL to Florida in shots per game at 37.6.

ABOUT THE JETS (5-5-0): Center Mark Scheifele, who is tied with Laine for fifth in the NHL in points (12) to begin the week, is pointless in two straight games after recording nine in his previous five contests. Hellebuyck recorded his 15th career shutout after surrendering 16 goals across his first six games. Winnipeg is last in the NHL in penalty kill at 61.1 percent, but successfully killed two Edmonton power plays after allowing five extra-man goals in its previous four contests.

OVERTIME

1. Jets C Bryan Little, who missed the first nine games of the season with a concussion, finished with two shots on goal and two blocked shots in 16:17.

2. Kings C Anze Kopitar snapped a two-game pointless streak Sunday with a goal, giving him a team-best nine points through eight games.

3. Los Angeles also faces St. Louis, Minnesota and Chicago on the trip, and plays seven of its next nine away from home.

PREDICTION: Kings 5, Jets 3
