Last Meeting ( Sep 26, 2019 ) St. Louis 1, Detroit 4

The Detroit Red Wings have struggled at both ends of the ice during their seven-game losing streak. They hope to rectify their problems when they continue a three-game homestand Sunday against the St. Louis Blues.

Detroit has been outscored 29-9 during its slide, allowing five goals in five of the setbacks while recording fewer than three in each defeat. The Red Wings improved defensively in the opener of their homestand on Friday but were unable to break through offensively as they fell 2-0 to Buffalo. The Blues also failed to score in their last contest as they were blanked 3-0 in Boston on Saturday after totaling eight goals in back-to-back victories. St. Louis will be without one of its top offensive players on Sunday as Vladimir Tarasenko, who ranks second on the team with 10 points, will miss his second straight game with an upper-body injury.

TV: 5 p.m. ET, FS Midwest (St. Louis), FS Detroit

ABOUT THE BLUES (5-3-3): Brayden Schenn tops the club with eight goals and 11 points despite being kept off the scoresheet on Saturday for just the third time in 11 games this season while Jaden Schwartz saw a six-game point streak during which he collected a tally and six assists come to an end. Sammy Blais finished with a minus-2 rating in 10 minutes, 18 seconds of ice time against the Bruins as he returned to the lineup after missing one game with an upper-body injury. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, who saw a game-high 24:50 of action versus Boston, is expected to skate in his 700th NHL game on Sunday while David Perron is two points shy of 500 for his career after having his three-game streak halted Saturday.

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (3-8-0): Defenseman Mike Green, who scored 31 goals in 2008-09 and registered 76 points the following season - both with Washington, has produced just one tally in 11 games this campaign. "I need to capitalize on some of my shots," the 34-year-old told reporters. "Get them through, bear down a little bit more. Some of these little things that make the difference. We gotta stick with it. The production will come." Anthony Mantha leads the team with seven goals but has recorded just one during Detroit's losing streak.
