Edmonton @ Columbus preview
Nationwide Arena
Last Meeting ( Mar 21, 2019 ) Columbus 1, Edmonton 4
The Columbus Blue Jackets had their point streak halted at six games (4-0-2) last time out but hope to begin a new one when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. Columbus owned a two-goal lead midway through the third period on Saturday before surrendering five consecutive tallies en route to a 7-4 setback in Philadelphia.
The Blue Jackets had been earning points despite sputtering on the power play, as they have scored only four goals with the man advantage this season while allowing three short-handed tallies. "Our power play (stinks)," Columbus coach John Tortorella told the team's website on Monday. "We're deliberate, we're panicking, no one wants the puck. It (stinks). And that falls on me." Edmonton's road struggles continued on Tuesday as it began a three-game trip by dropping a 3-1 decision in Detroit. Leon Draisaitl scored his team high-tying 10th goal in the setback as the Oilers fell to 0-3-1 in their last four away from home - a stretch during which they have been shut out twice and produced a total of two tallies.

ABOUT THE OILERS (8-4-1): Captain Connor McDavid notched an assist against the Red Wings, giving him sole possession for 11th place on the all-time list for most points through a player's first 300 career games. The 22-year-old two-time Art Ross Trophy winner has collected 394 points, moving him ahead of Dale Hawerchuk and Teemu Selanne for the spot. Like Columbus, Edmonton has had its problems on the power play as it failed on all three of its opportunities Tuesday to fall to 1-for-14 over its last six contests and out of the top spot in the league (30.6 percent).
ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS (5-4-2): Columbus could be without defenseman Ryan Murray and rookie forward Alexandre Texier for up to a month as both were placed on injured reserve on Monday. The 26-year-old Murray, who has recorded a goal and three assists in 10 games this season, is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a broken hand while the 20-year-old Texier, who has netted two tallies and set up another in 11 contests, is out 2-4 weeks with a knee injury. Riley Nash has registered five points in 11 games after recording 12 in 78 contests last season, and is one assist shy of 100 for his career.
OVERTIME
1. Blue Jackets G Joonas Korpisalo's next game will be the 100th of his career.
2. Draisaitl, who has collected six points in his last three contests, is one assist shy of 200 in the NHL.
