Last Meeting ( Apr 6, 2019 ) Carolina 4, Philadelphia 3

The Carolina Hurricanes' bid for a perfect four-game homestand was blown away after falling to an opponent that had yet to win on the road. The Hurricanes aim to rebound from that setback and end a three-game road losing streak on Tuesday when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers.

"We never got going enough to create enough mojo. It just felt like we were emotionally dead," Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour said of Saturday's 5-3 setback to New Jersey. Erik Haula was very much alive after recording his 29th career multi-point performance, highlighted by his team-leading eighth goal of the season for the Hurricanes. Philadelphia fell for the third time in four outings after falling on the wrong end of an 11-round shootout to Toronto on Saturday. Captain Claude Giroux scored and set up a goal in the 4-3 setback to the Maple Leafs and totaled five points (one goal, four assists) in the four-game season series versus Carolina in 2018-19.

ABOUT THE HURRICANES (9-4-1): Haula notched the secondary assist on Teuvo Teravainen's power-play goal, giving Carolina at least one goal with the man advantage in each of the last four games (5-for-12) after failing to score in that situation in the previous six contests (0-for-19). The 25-year-old Teravainen has recorded seven power-play points (one goal, six assists) while Andrei Svechnikov (two goals, four assists) and defenseman Dougie Hamilton (one goal, five assists) have each tallied six such points through 14 games. Speaking of Svechnikov, the 19-year-old Russian has collected five goals and two assists during his career high-tying four-game point streak.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (6-5-2): Jakub Voracek told reporters that he had no issue with Alain Vigneault after the coach publicly called out both Voracek and Giroux last week. "It's kind of different if you have a coach who says it in the paper but doesn't say it to you. That's what he did before the practice," the 30-year-old Voracek said. "That's the way he is. He's pretty open about everything. I'd rather take that than being backstabbed some other way." Voracek, who resides one goal shy of 200 for his career, recorded four points (one goal, three assists) in the season series versus Carolina in 2018-19.

OVERTIME

1. Philadelphia LW Oskar Lindblom has four goals and three assists in his last seven games.

2. Carolina has scored at least two goals in its first 14 contests this season, one shy of the franchise record set by the 1986-87 Hartford Whalers.

3. The Flyers have scored two power-play goals in each of their last three home games.

PREDICTION: Hurricanes 3, Flyers 1
