The Los Angeles Kings were unable to ride the momentum of their second overtime win of the season and allowed two quick third-period goals to fall in the opener of their three-game Canadian road trip. The Kings look to avert a sixth loss in seven contests on Thursday when they visit the Ottawa Senators.

"No one in here likes to lose. The only people that can do something about it is us. We've got to keep working," Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick said after permitting two goals in 30 seconds of the third period in a 3-1 setback to Toronto on Tuesday. The 33-year-old sports a disastrous 2-7-0 mark this season after yielding 17 goals during his personal four-game losing streak. Ottawa has answered a woeful 1-6-1 start by alternating wins and losses over its last six games, capped by a 4-1 setback against the white-hot New York Islanders on Tuesday. Alternate captain Jean-Gabriel Pageau boosted his point streak to three games (three goals, one assist) after scoring in the first period versus the Islanders.

ABOUT THE KINGS (5-10-0): Tyler Toffoli, who grew up in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, visits his junior-hockey home in Ottawa after playing four seasons for the 67's of the Ontario Hockey League. The 27-year-old may not be making his NHL home in Los Angeles at the end of the season, however, as TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that the Kings may be willing to part ways with the pending unrestricted free agent forward as opposed to extending him. Toffoli, whose $4.6 million cap hit is the fifth-highest among Kings forwards, has just one assist in his last six encounters with the Senators.

ABOUT THE SENATORS (4-9-1): Vladislav Namestnikov has made himself at home in Canada's capital with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 12 games after setting up Pageau's team-leading sixth goal on Tuesday. Both Namestnikov and Pageau reside two points shy of team leader Connor Brown (12), who saw his six-game point streak (two goals, five assists) come to a halt on Tuesday. Chris Tierney has three goals this season, matching his total in two games versus Los Angeles in 2018-19.
