Toronto @ Edmonton preview
Rogers Place
Last Meeting ( Mar 9, 2019 ) Toronto 3, Edmonton 2
The Toronto Maple Leafs seek their seventh straight victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday while completing a rugged four-game road trip. Toronto has won the last three season series while Frederik Andersen, who tries for career victory No. 200 on Saturday, is 11-0-1 with a .928 save percentage versus Edmonton.
Toronto started its trek with victories over St. Louis and Vancouver before losing to Calgary 4-2 on Thursday, and is 6-4-0 since Sheldon Keefe replaced Mike Babcock as coach. "I still think we have a long way to go in terms of structure, habits and those types of things,'' Keefe told reporters Thursday after his club lost for the third time in 14 games this season (11-1-2) when leading after two periods. "And there’s the defensive side when things go bad and how you handle those situations. That’s the stuff that takes a significant amount of time.” Edmonton has lost three straight after a 6-5 setback at Minnesota on Thursday and is 2-5-1 in its last eight games. "We're not panicking in here," Oilers captain Connor McDavid told reporters. "We lost three games, I think we're the last team in the league to lose three in a row, so, all teams have gone through it and we're going through it now. We have to dig in here. We're in a bit of a rut. It starts with the top guys, all the way down through the lineup. I've got be better. That's pretty much it."
