Bryan Rust is stepping up his play on the offensive end while Tristan Jarry has been downright stingy at the other end of the ice. Rust and Jarry look to keep the injury-riddled Pittsburgh Penguins surging ahead on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.
Rust scored a power-play goal at 3:02 of overtime and Jarry joined Marc-Andre Fleury as the second goaltender in franchise history to register three shutouts in four appearances during Pittsburgh's 1-0 victory over Columbus on Thursday. "It's fun. It's fun to play a lot and it's fun to win," Jarry said after improving his NHL-best goals-against average (1.76) and save percentage (.941). While the Penguins are 9-1-2 at home in their last 12 contests, the Kings snapped a franchise high-tying 11-game road winless skid (0-10-1) on Thursday by opening a six-game trek with a 2-1 victory at Anaheim. "Good team effort, great goaltending. You need all of those things to win, especially on the road," coach Todd McLellan said after Los Angeles improved to 3-12-1 away from Staples Center.

ABOUT THE KINGS (13-18-2): Jonathan Quick answered a 1-4-1 stretch by yielding just one goal in back-to-back starts, turning aside 65 of 67 shots in that stretch. The 33-year-old is expected to get the nod versus Pittsburgh, against which he split a pair of decisions in 2018-19 to see his record go to 4-4-4 in 12 career encounters. Tyler Toffoli recorded his second straight multi-point performance by setting up goals by Matt Luff and Jeff Carter on Thursday.
ABOUT THE PENGUINS (18-10-4): Rust has set his sights on contributing more regularly for the Pittsburgh, and 10 goals in 18 games is quite the start. "It's definitely something I've been working on," the 27-year-old said. "It's something that's been in the back of my mind over the years." Jake Guentzel notched an assist on Rust's overtime goal, extending his point streak to four games (two goals, four assists) and giving him at least a point in 11 of his last 13 overall.
OVERTIME
1. Pittsburgh did not provide an updated status on C Evgeni Malkin, who sat out Thursday's game with an illness.
2. Los Angeles LW Matt Roy has scored one goal and set up three others during his three-game point streak.
3. The Penguins are 11-3-1 against Western Conference representatives while the Kings are just 3-5-1 versus the East.
PREDICTION: Penguins 4, Kings 1
