Last Meeting ( Nov 16, 2019 ) Dallas 5, Edmonton 4

The Edmonton Oilers followed up becoming the last team in the NHL to lose three in a row by extending their winless streak to a season-high four games (0-3-1). The skidding Oilers aim to reverse their fortunes on Monday when they open a two-game road trip against the Dallas Stars.

"Losing four in a row is not good enough. We've got to find a way to put some wins together here and it starts on the road," Edmonton captain Connor McDavid told reporters after Saturday's 4-1 setback to Toronto. "I think it's a good opportunity for our group to go against two real good teams (Dallas, St. Louis) and see where we're at." Where the Oilers are at is out of first place in the Pacific Division after surrendering 36 goals over their last nine contests (2-6-1). Dallas answered its own four-game skid (0-3-1) by increasing its current point streak to five contests (4-0-1) with a 4-1 victory over Nashville on Saturday. Blake Comeau, who ignited a four-goal uprising in the second period versus the Predators, also tallied as the Stars skated to a 5-4 overtime victory in Edmonton on Nov. 16.

ABOUT THE OILERS (18-13-4): While Edmonton hasn't found much success in the standings of late, its top-ranked power play is showing no signs of slowing down after converting in its seventh straight game. "Our power play's been good all year, our PK's been good all year, so it's the 5-on-5 that we've been struggling a bit with," defenseman Oscar Klefbom told the media. McDavid set up Ethan Bear's power-play goal late in the second period of the first encounter with Dallas, marking his third assist of the night to boost his career point total to 16 (eight goals, eight assists) versus the Stars.

ABOUT THE STARS (19-11-4): Alexander Radulov notched a pair of assists against his former team to extend his point streak to four games (one goal, five assists) since being a healthy scratch against Winnipeg on Dec. 5. "Sometimes it's clicking, sometimes it's going your way," said the 33-year-old Russian, who has nine goals and 21 points overall this season. Tyler Seguin, who is mired in an 11-game goal drought, recorded his 600th career point with a critical tally late in the third period in the first encounter with Edmonton before setting up captain Jamie Benn's winner in overtime.

OVERTIME

1. Dallas G Ben Bishop sports a 9-1-2 record in 13 starts in November and December, although he was chased in the first meeting with Edmonton after allowing three goals on 15 shots.

2. Oilers LW Jujhar Khaira scored twice in the first meeting with the Stars and has five goals in his last dozen games.

3. Dallas has killed off all 15 of its opponents' power plays over the past six contests.

PREDICTION: Stars 3, Oilers 2
