Philadelphia @ Los Angeles preview

Last Meeting ( Feb 7, 2019 ) Los Angeles 3, Philadelphia 2
The Philadelphia Flyers were sprinting along with four consecutive wins before falling flat in the opener of their season-high six-game road trip. The Flyers regained their footing the following night and look to get back up to speed on Tuesday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.
Kevin Hayes scored his team co-leading 12th goal of the season at 3:53 of overtime in Philadelphia's 2-1 victory over Anaheim on Sunday, one day after the club was shellacked by San Jose. "Less than 24 hours later you have a chance to turn the attitude around. We came in here before the game and knew this was kind of a must-win," said the 27-year-old Hayes, who has four goals in his last four games and eight points over his last seven. While the victory was just the second in the last six road contests for the Flyers, the Pacific Division cellar-dwelling Kings will open a four-game homestand with losses in four of their last five games. Los Angeles' 3-2 setback to Vancouver on Saturday didn't come without a fight, however, as coach Todd McLellan's charges unleashed 51 shots on goal -- marking the first time the club eclipsed 50 since Feb. 9, 2016.

ABOUT THE FLYERS (22-12-5): Travis Konecny is enjoying a career season thus far, and he was rewarded for his productivity by being selected to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis. "I didn't expect it, especially with some of the names that we have on our team, I didn't expect them to pick me," said the 22-year-old Konecny, who leads the team in assists (23) and points (34). "It's something that you don't really think about until it happens. ... Now that it's come up, it's pretty amazing and I have a lot of people to thank for it." Jakub Voracek, who is second on the team with 21 assists, has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his last six games.
ABOUT THE KINGS (16-21-4): Captain Anze Kopitar collected a goal and an assist on Saturday to boost his team-leading totals to 15 and 20, respectively, while Tyler Toffoli also tallied and linemate Alex Iaffalo set up a pair of tallies for the third time this season. "When they do it properly, everybody seems to follow, but it's a team mentality, to create that volume, to try and create secondary and third chances -- not just the top guys, but they certainly led in that way (on Saturday)," McLellan said of Los Angeles' top line. Toffoli set up Adrian Kempe's goal in the second period before scoring the winner in the shootout of a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia on Feb. 7.
