Detroit @ Dallas preview
American Airlines Center
Last Meeting ( Oct 6, 2019 ) Dallas 3, Detroit 4
The Dallas Stars will be looking to avoid a letdown -- and it has nothing to do with the fact that their opponent owns the worst record in hockey. Coming off a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Nashville in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day, the Stars will go for their fourth straight win against the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.
Dallas stretched its winning streak to three by erasing a two-goal deficit in a 4-2 victory over the Predators at the Cotton Bowl in front of the second-largest crowd (85,630) at an NHL game. "You don't really know what to expect when you walk out for the start of the game, but the atmosphere, the fans, everything they had going on with the fireworks, the fly-over, everything, was just awesome. It was nice to have a Texas feel." While Dallas won for the 22nd time in 32 games (22-7-3), Detroit was triumphant for only the 10th time this season after ending a six-game slide with a 2-0 victory over visiting San Jose on Tuesday night. "You have to stick with it," goaltender Jonathan Bernier said after notching his first shutout of the season. "At some point, you work hard in practice and those bounces are gonna turn."

ABOUT THE RED WINGS (10-28-3): Tyler Bertuzzi was named to the All-Star Game on Monday and celebrated the honor 24 hours later by delivering the decisive goal against San Jose -- his team-high 15th tally. "What I would say is I think it's a great reward for Tyler for a number of years of hard work and doing a real good job," coach Jeff Blashill said. "He's worked real hard to put himself in position where he's our selection as the All-Star." Second-leading scorer Dylan Larkin has scored only one goal in his last 10 games.
ABOUT THE STARS (23-14-4): The one blip for Dallas on Wednesday was the ejection of forward Corey Perry, who was tossed from the game for elbowing Nashville's Ryan Ellis in the head and will have a hearing with the NHL Player Safety department on Friday. The latest win marked the second straight game in which the Stars erased a two-goal deficit. "I don't think our group shies away from any adversity," Jason Dickinson said. "You hit us with anything, and we've got the right guys who are going to rise up against it."
