Last Meeting ( Jan 6, 2019 ) Edmonton 4, Anaheim 0

After heroically ending his team's five-game slide, captain Connor McDavid will be watching from the press box on Saturday when the Edmonton Oilers host the Anaheim Ducks. McDavid scored 1:22 into overtime against the New York Islanders on Thursday but received a two-game suspension the following day for his actions earlier in the game.

The 22-year-old, who returned to the lineup after missing one contest due to illness, delivered an illegal check to the head of Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy late in the first period and was given a minor penalty before the NHL imposed further discipline on Friday. McDavid leads the Oilers in assists (53) and points (85) but likely will not win a third straight Art Ross Trophy as he trails Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov (100) by 15 points for the league lead. Anaheim also could be without its captain as Ryan Getzlaf missed Friday's 2-1 loss in Calgary due to an upper-body injury. The Ducks have lost seven of eight on the road and are seven points behind Minnesota for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference while the Oilers trail the Wild by eight points.

TV: 10 p.m. ET, Prime Ticket (Anaheim), CBC, Sportsnet West (Edmonton)

ABOUT THE DUCKS (24-28-9): After scoring in back-to-back games, Corey Perry failed to tally Friday in his 967th career contest. The 33-year-old moved past Teemu Selanne for second place on the franchise list in games played and trails Getzlaf by only four for the the top spot. Derek Grant has registered two goals and two assists in 13 games since being acquired from Pittsburgh, for whom he netted two tallies and set up three others in 25 contests.

ABOUT THE OILERS (25-29-6): Like McDavid, Leon Draisaitl finished with a goal and an assist on Thursday, giving him four tallies and three assists during his five-game point streak. The 23-year-old German, who has recorded back-to-back multi-point performances for the sixth time this season, is four points shy of matching the career high of 77 he collected in 2016-17. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins notched an assist against the Islanders for his 55th point - one shy of the career high he set in 2013-14 and tied the following season.

OVERTIME

1. Oilers LW Milan Lucic is one assist away from 300 in the NHL, three goals shy of 200 and needs four points for 500.

2. Ducks RW Jakob Silfverberg leads the team with 16 goals and recorded four in as many contests before being blanked on Friday.

3. Anaheim split a pair of home meetings with Edmonton earlier this season, but was outscored 5-2.

PREDICTION: Ducks 3, Oilers 1
