Anaheim @ Arizona preview
Gila River Arena
Last Meeting ( Dec 29, 2018 ) Arizona 5, Anaheim 4
The red-hot Arizona Coyotes continue their improbable surge toward a Western Conference playoff berth when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. Arizona has won six straight games - its longest winning streak since a similar run in February 2012 - after Saturday's 3-1 victory over Detroit, and is two points out of a playoff spot with Dallas and Minnesota tied for the wild-card positions.
The Coyotes are riding a hot goaltender in Darcy Kuemper, who has won seven straight starts and allowed two or fewer goals six times with one shutout, as they try to make the playoffs for the first time since 2012. "It definitely keeps us motivated, but the playoffs don't start tonight,'' Kuemper told reporters Saturday. "There's still a lot of games left to play. We've just got to keep worrying about our business and we know every point the rest of the way is going to matter." Anaheim is way out of the postseason picture but played the role of spoiler - while helping Arizona - with a 2-1 victory over wild-card contender Colorado on Sunday. "We already had confidence in our system. It was just a matter of time before a game went our way," defenseman Josh Manson told reporters after the Ducks snapped a five-game losing streak.
