Last Meeting ( Mar 10, 2019 ) Los Angeles 3, Anaheim 2
After ending their five-game home losing streak last time out, the Los Angeles Kings attempt to finish their five-game string at Staples Center with back-to-back wins when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. Los Angeles was outscored 17-7 during its slide in its own arena before posting a 4-2 victory over San Jose on Thursday.
Captain Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each recorded a goal and an assist for the Kings, who won for the second time in eight overall contests. Their only other triumph in that span came on the road against Anaheim, which completed a 2-1-0 homestand with Friday's 4-3 overtime win against the Sharks. Jakob Silfverberg capped a three-point performance 38 seconds into the extra session with his career high-tying 23rd goal. The 28-year-old Swede has been wielding a hot stick of late, registering seven tallies and six assists over his last 11 contests.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (31-36-9): General manager/interim coach Bob Murray gave injury updates on Ryan Kesler (hip) and Patrick Eaves (post-viral syndrome) on Friday, stating that neither is likely to return this season. "I doubt strongly you'll see him again this year," Murray told reporters regarding Kesler. "Like Kes, we hope (Eaves) gets better so he can have a normal life. I don't want to speak for him, but he's just struggling. It's more like what he had last year." Kesler has recorded five goals and three assists in 60 games this season while the 34-year-old Eaves has appeared in only nine contests over the last two campaigns - including seven in 2018-19.
ABOUT THE KINGS (26-39-8): Kopitar's goal against the Sharks was the 48th game-winner of his career, moving him past Dave Taylor for third place on the franchise list. The 31-year-old Slovenian, who has recorded two goals and three assists in his last three contests, trails only Luc Robitaille (73) and Marcel Dionne (59) in that category. Rookie defenseman Matt Roy scored his first career goal Thursday, giving him a tally and two assists over his last four games after being kept off the scoresheet in his first 12 NHL contests.
