Dallas @ Calgary preview
Scotiabank Saddledome
Last Meeting ( Dec 18, 2018 ) Calgary 0, Dallas 2
The Dallas Stars resumed their success on the road after a 1-3-1 homestand, recording their fifth consecutive win away from Texas to open a four-game trek through Canada. The Stars bid for their sixth straight road victory on Wednesday night when they visit the Calgary Flames.
Tyler Seguin joined Radek Faksa in tallying twice in Dallas' 5-2 win in Winnipeg on Monday to extend his goal-scoring streak to a season high-tying three games and reach the 30-goal plateau for the fifth time in his last six campaigns. The 27-year-old Seguin capped a two-point performance by scoring in overtime of a 4-3 victory at Calgary on Nov. 28, with the Stars improving to 6-1-1 in their last eight games at Scotiabank Saddledome. While Dallas is holding the first wild-card spot in the West, conference-leading Calgary had won six of seven overall and five straight at home before dropping a 3-0 decision to Los Angeles on Monday. "You need everything clicking at this time of the year if you want to have success," Flames head coach Bill Peters said. "I don't think we were overly impressed with our own execution."

ABOUT THE STARS (39-31-6): Dallas has changed the narrative on its play away from home, answering a 6-11-1 mark in its first 18 road games by posting a sizzling 11-6-2 record in its last 19 such contests. "Our goal this year was to be a better road team and be better within our division, and we've accomplished that this year," Stars coach Jim Montgomery said. Faksa has scored five goals in his last seven road games after mustering just four tallies in his previous 30.
ABOUT THE FLAMES (47-22-7): Calgary is looking for a spark on ailing power play, which has been shut out in its last seven games and is 1-for-25 in the last 10. "At the end of the day, we've got to play harder, get to the net more, get to the crease to score the dirty ones," forward Sean Monahan said. "It's not an easy league to score, and we need to do a better job of getting in front of the goalie's eyes. When you do that in this league, that's when you get rewarded." Johnny Gaudreau, who leads the team in goals (35), assists (57) and points (92), has been held off the scoresheet in seven of his last 10 games while Elias Lindholm has been held without a point in 10 of his last 12.
