The Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks both play with a lot of structure, and very little pace, when they have it their way. That’s been the case for multiple years and this season is no different. Despite all the injuries the Wild have dealt with, and how many lineup combinations they’ve had to juggle, they are a Top-5 team when it comes to limiting goals at five-on-five. The Canucks are an even more extreme example. They rank fifth in shot suppression, sixth in expected goals against, and dead last in pace at five-on-five. The Wild are all hands on deck as they fight to hang onto a playoff spot. On the flip side, the Canucks have won three of four and continue to play hard despite the playoffs being out of the cards. Expect a competitive, lower scoring meeting between two teams that rely heavily on their team defense.
