The featherweight clash between Steve Garcia and Seung Woo Choi serves as one of our featured UFC betting events on the undercard of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night

The explosive Garcia looks for his fifth win in the UFC and a chance to run as a potential featherweight contender, and he’ll have his work cut out for him against Choi in a fight that likely doesn’t go the distance.

UFC odds have Garcia a -150 favorite and Choi a +120 underdog. Here are my best free UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs. Choi predictions from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Garcia vs Choi prediction and pick

Fight analysis

In the rapidly changing featherweight division, Steve Garcia is emerging as a sneaky good contender who is on the verge of breaking out. He has a fan-friendly style and great power, and he’s demonstrated his finishing skills with all of his UFC wins coming by way of knockout. Garcia gets started right away and is willing to throw caution to the wind, throwing bombs from every angle he can see, and there is also the danger that he can catch something wicked because of that wild approach.

Seung Woo Choi is a technically gifted Muay Thai striker who doesn’t get as crazy from the start but can turn it up when he needs to and also can deliver some devastating shots. He was part of the South Korean national team and he fires accurate strikes and leg kicks, but when an opponent touches him up, he tends to throw the technique out the door and tries to overpower them. This has led to costly mistakes that have him on a 2-3 skid with a pair of finishes in defeat.

Garcia will bring the fight to Choi from the start and not allow him to control the range. Because both fighters will inevitably get to the point where they’re slugging at each other, it will come down to who ends up being more comfortable under fire. At this particular moment, Garcia’s two-fisted power and finishing instincts put that advantage firmly in his corner.

Garcia could likely rush Choi down and put him in a bad spot early on, but he has to be careful in those charges that Choi doesn’t time him for a big counter-shot. That said, I don’t believe Garcia gives Choi the opportunity, and he’ll put on an offensive show to get the win.

Best best analysis

Four of Choi’s six defeats have come inside the distance, and he’s just one fight removed from a knockout loss to Michael Trizano where he was dropped multiple times before getting stopped in the first round. Garcia hits harder than Trizano and Choi might struggle with the southpaw stance.

Expect Garcia to strike first, follow through with the pressure, and put Choi in survival mode where he’ll throw caution to the wind in hopes of regaining momentum. Garcia will continue to pile on the punishment, potentially dropping Choi and finishing him by knockout.
