Rosa vs Minner betting preview

Charles "Boston Strong" Rosa is coming off a split-decision win against Kevin Aguilar last June. The 34-year-old has alternated wins and losses over his last eight fights since making his UFC debut in 2014.

Rosa has fought three times since rehabbing from a neck injury that kept him out of action for 30 months. Boston Strong has a black belt in BJJ and is a high-end grappler with six of his last nine wins coming by submission.

Darrick Minner is fresh off a first-round submission victory over T.J. Laramie in September. That victory allowed Minner to bounce back from a submission loss to Grant Dawson in his UFC debut six months earlier.

The 30-year-old is also a grappling specialist who prefers to take things to the mat, with 22 of his 25 career wins coming by submission.

Rosa vs Minner UFC prediction and betting pick

PREDICTION: Rosa -184 - Both of these fighters are submission masters but Rosa is significantly better when it comes to grappling defense.

Minner has a very obvious path to victory in this contest - winning by submission - but Rosa has never lost by sub in his entire career. Even when Boston Strong was dominated by No. 13 featherweight Bryce Mitchell last year, he impressed with his scrambling and ability to get himself out of tight situations.

Minner, on the other hand, has lost by submission eight times, to fighters of a lower caliber than Rosa. Rosa also offers a lot more on his feet than Minner, and has displayed decent stand up in his most recent fight against Aguilar, as well as bouts against Kyle Bochniak and Shane Burgos.

Rosa has more experience against top competition, is the more well-rounded fighter, and is far better defensively on the ground. Back him at this decent price.
