Aces vs Sky Predictions, Picks & Odds for Today’s WNBA Game

The Aces might be the highest-scoring team in the WNBA but they're also allowing nearly 90 points per game over this recent four-game skid. As such, we expect Sunday's contest to be another high-scoring one.

The Las Vegas Aces will visit the Chicago Sky on Sunday, with both teams in desperate need of a win.

Vegas is a hefty 7.5-point favorite despite dropping three of four post-Olympic break contests, but our Aces vs. Sky predictions are actually eyeing the 166.5-point total. Find out why in our WNBA picks below.

Over 166.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

My analysis
This Las Vegas Aces slide started just before the lengthy in-season break when this Chicago Sky squad took them down. Most recently, they've dropped both ends of a home-and-home set with the Lynx.

The highest-scoring team in the WNBA, posting 87.3 points per game, the Aces haven’t been able to outscore their defensive woes. During this skid, they’ve allowed 89.3 points per game. Their opponents are hitting at a crisp 47.7% from the field, which, in this small sample, would rank as the worst field goal defense in the league.

This slide has dropped them to fifth in the overall standings, a game back of the  Storm — and home-court advantage in Round 1.

The Sky's got their issues too. They’re just a game up on the Dream for the eighth and final playoff berth and have just two wins over their past seven games. They were crushed 86-68 in Phoenix, before last game’s close 82-80 loss to the Sun.

This is a Bottom-3 scoring team at 78.8 points per game, but a defense that ranks Top 6 in the W has been allowing 85.1 points per game during this slide, nearly a 4-point hike from their season-long mark.

The Aces have dominated this matchup, with the Sky’s most recent victory putting a halt to a Vegas 8-game head-to-head win streak. Yet, Vegas’ recent play doesn’t warrant either a 7.5-point spread or a -340 price on the moneyline.

Instead, we’re targeting the Over, which has cashed in seven of the last 10 matchups. The two teams have breezed past this 166.5-point number in both previous matchups this season, cracking the 170-point plateau each time.

Aces vs Sky same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 166.5

Angel Reese Under 13.5 rebounds

A'ja Wilson Over 26.5 points

Angel Reese has been a rebounding machine, coming off back-to-back 20-rebound efforts in losses to the Sun and Mercury. The Sky rookie has now grabbed 10+ rebounds in 22 straight games, propelling her to the top of the rebounding chart at 12.6 per game.

While it’s nearly a given at this point that Reese hits double figures, the 13.5-rebound line set for Sunday seems just a little steep. The Aces are the top defensive rebounding team in the league and feature the league’s second-best rebounder in A’ja Wilson. In two prior matchups, Vegas has kept Reese to 11 and 10 boards

Speaking of Wilson, she’s only scored 27+ points once since returning from the Olympics, but we’re taking her Over today because of her body of work against the Sky. Last meeting, she went for 28 points and 14 boards, which included 10 trips to the free-throw line.

In their June 26 matchup, she dropped 31 points and six boards, shooting 10-for-19 from the field while also taking 12 free throws.
