While the Seattle Storm chase a Top-4 seed atop the WNBA standings, the Atlanta Dream are just trying to stop the bleeding and stay in the playoff chase.

Atlanta is a whopping 13.5-point road underdog in the WNBA odds, as they’ve dropped six in a row and visit a Seattle team that’s 10-3 at home — one of three teams with double-digit wins in their home gym.

Is this as simple a wager as it looks? Read our WNBA picks and Dream vs. Storm predictions below to find out.

Dream vs Storm predictions

My best bet
Storm -13.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The Atlanta Dream are the lowest-scoring team in the league (75.9 points per game) and the offense has struggled during this six-game slide. Their most recent loss was an 84-70 decision to the Aces, the third game in a row they’ve scored 70 or fewer points.

Over the last 10 games, the Dream have eclipsed 80 points just once — a big reason they’ve dropped nine of those and have slid to ninth in the WNBA standings. Atlanta is still dinged up and won’t have guards Jordin Canada (finger), Rhyne Howard (ankle), and Aerial Powers (calf) available.

They’re running into a Seattle Storm side that is coming off a 91-63 beatdown of the Lynx  a team that ranks second in scoring defense in the league. That gives them six wins in the last eight and has them just half a game back of the Aces for fourth place and home court for the opening round of the playoffs.

The Storm are arguably the most complete team in the W, joining the Liberty as the only two teams to rank Top 4 in both scoring and scoring defense. Seattle is averaging 84.2 points per game despite being the worst 3-point shooting team in the league. At 29.9%, this is the only team in the league shooting sub-30%.

However, the Storm do their work in the interior. They're third in second-chance points and second in points in the paint, helped along by ranking third in offensive rebounding.

This is the first meeting of the season between these teams, but they’ve alternated wins and losses over the last six, with Atlanta taking the most recent win last September.

The Storm own a +11.9 point differential at home and will be playing an Atlanta side that’s struggled to score away from home, posting 68 points per game over the last five road games. Seattle’s rolling with five of its last six wins coming by double figures and should cover again here.

Dream vs Storm same-game parlay (SGP)

Storm -13.5

Nneka Ogwumike Over 16.5 points

Jewell Loyd Under 1.5 threes

Nneka Ogwumike was the top scorer for the Storm last time out against the Lynx, scoring 26 points on 10-for-14 shooting. She’s now posted 20+ points in two of her last three and has been given a generous 16.5-point line for this matchup. Scoring was not a problem for her against Atlanta a season ago. In all four matchups, Ogwumike crossed that number, averaging 22.5 points per game on 57.9% shooting.

While Ogwumike was shining against Minnesota, Jewell Loyd finished with a quiet 14 points on 5-for-13 shooting, missing all four of her 3-point attempts. Loyd has topped this line from distance just once over the last four, shooting a combined 3-for-20 over that stretch, a 15% clip.

On the year, she’s shooting 26.6% from distance, her worst rate since her rookie year in 2015 when she shot 20.8%.
