Fever vs Sun Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Playoff Game

The Connecticut Sun's suffocating defense isn't fun for any opposition, and it'll be the main reason Caitlin Clark & Co. begin their offseason tonight.

The Indiana Fever will try to keep their season going for at least one more game when they visit the Connecticut Sun for Game 2 of this first-round WNBA playoff series.

Connecticut won the first game of the series 93-69 on Sunday, and my Fever vs. Sun predictions expect another dominating performance from the favorites.

Find out more in my WNBA picks for September 25.

Fever vs Sun predictions

My best bet
Sun -6 (-115 at DraftKings)

My analysis
The Connecticut Sun have won four of the five matchups they’ve had this season with the Indiana Fever, and the games haven't been close at all.

That’s been especially true when the action has moved to Connecticut. At home, the Sun have beaten the Fever by an average of 20.7 points per game, and none of those three outings were decided by less than a 17-point margin.

The biggest problem for Indiana — as it has been all season — comes on the defensive end. Connecticut has scored 80+ points in all meetings, averaging 88.4 ppg.

Meanwhile, the Fever have been unable to get Caitlin Clark or any of their other players going on a consistent basis against the suffocating Sun defense. Connecticut leads the WNBA in defensive rating (94.1) and points allowed (73.5 ppg).

While this has been a great debut season for Clark, her run will end tonight, and it likely won’t be a close call.

Caitlin Clark pick: Clark ends spectacular season with a dud

My best bet
Under 20.5 points (-135 at DraftKings)

My analysis
Caitlin Clark has enjoyed one of the best rookie seasons in WNBA history but it hasn’t been without its bumps in the road — and one of the biggest obstacles to her success has been Connecticut.

She didn't top 21 points in any regular season meetings with the Sun, and in Game 1 of this series, Clark struggled from the floor — shooting 4-for-17 on her way to just 11 points in 36 minutes.

The Sun are also arguably the best defensive team in the league overall, making it hard to believe Clark will suddenly find a way to have a breakout game tonight.

Fever vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)

Sun -6

Caitlin Clark Under 20.5 points

DeWanna Bonner 15+ points

The Sun shouldn’t have too much trouble putting the series away tonight, and I’m running with that idea in my same-game parlay.

I’ll also take DeWanna Bonner to get at least 15 points for the Sun on the winning side of this game. Bonner put up 22 points in Sunday’s Game 1 and has scored at least 17 points in four of her five matchups against the Fever so far this year.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
