Liberty vs Wings Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Fans of good guard play will love this Sabrina Ionescu vs. Arike Ogunbowale matchup, and while the Liberty might win this one with ease, Phil Naessens doesn't believe they'll be able to shut down the Wings' superstar.

The New York Liberty are looking for a series sweep when they meet the Dallas Wings for the fourth time this season.

Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale and Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu have been on fire since the Olympic Games break, and each should play a major role in tonight’s clash.

Find out why Ogunbowale’s points prop is the focus of my Liberty vs. Wings predictions and WNBA picks for Thursday, September 12.

My best bet

My analysis

The Dallas Wings are riding the struggle bus.

The Wings began the season with high hopes, but early-season injuries, the Olympic Games, and uneven play have created a 9-27 group hoping to end a five-game losing streak when they take on the New York Liberty tonight.

Dallas plays the league’s worst defense, but it remains competitive behind the W’s second-leading scorer in Arike Ogunbowale, and she’s in line for a huge scoring night tonight.

The Wings have led the league in pace since the break, and Ogunbowale benefits from having forwards Satou Sabally and Natasha Howard on the court. Those ladies spread the floor, which allows a true scorer like Ogunbowale to beat defenders off the dribble, catch-and-shoot from the mid-range, or hit a step-back triple.

Ogunbowale will have her chances because the Liberty play the up-tempo hoops Ogunbowale thrives in. New York defends well, but Ogunbowale has been hard to slow since the break with 21+ points in six of her last seven games while averaging 26 points at home in that span.

The Liberty should give Ogunbowale the pace and the minutes she lives for. She lit up New York for 23 in a fast-paced Tuesday night affair and should comfortably clear 20.5 points tonight.

Liberty vs Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Arike Ogunbowale 21+ points

Sabrina Ionescu 19+ points

Over 178

Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu should also thrive tonight. She’s been in a shooting slump but knocked down 55% from the field and 67% from downtown Tuesday night with 14 points in 26 minutes.

Ionescu should get 30+ minutes tonight and her clearing her scoring prop will fuel what I believe should be another high-scoring game. Dallas has allowed 95 points per night since the break, plays turnstile defense, and could surrender 100+ for the fourth time in five games.

Tonight’s matchup will be lightning-fast, and these clubs are Top 4 in scoring since the break.
