Sky vs Storm Predictions, Picks, & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Storm and Sky combined for 172 points on Friday without efficient 3-point shooting from either side. With tonight's total as low as 163, if they can even shoot moderately better from distance — which we expect — the Over is the play.

The Seattle Storm and Chicago Sky collide for the second time in three days, and we should be in for a treat if tonight’s contest mirrors Friday’s matchup. Whoever wins, our Sky vs. Storm predictions expect more offensive fireworks.

Angel Reese and the Sky held on for an 88-84 victory that night, snapping the Storm’s four-game win streak, but Seattle is pegged as the clear favorite in the latest WNBA odds.

I weigh up the key betting angles for this July 7 showdown in my free WNBA picks.

Sky vs Storm predictions

My best bet
Over 163 (-110 at FanDuel)

My analysis

After shooting a league-worst 41% from the field in 2023, the Seattle Storm have bounced back in style this season, averaging 84 points per game and trailing only the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty in that category. With Jewell Loyd and Nneka Ogwumike at the forefront, Seattle is a threat against even the WNBA’s best defenses.

While the Chicago Sky can’t compete with the Storm’s level of shot-making, they held their own in a high-scoring matchup earlier this week, shooting 47% overall and producing a 30-point third quarter.

One common theme between these teams makes the Over the most attractive play on the board tonight: they both love to jack shots up. Seattle and Chicago are locked together at the top of the charts for most field-goal attempts per game, averaging 71 apiece.

That strongly suggests we will see the two offenses show up. The Over is 8-2 in the Sky’s past 10 games, and the visitors have scored at least 85 points in consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Seattle ripped off back-to-back wins against the Dallas Wings before Friday’s loss, scoring a combined 192 points in those victories. The Storm have posted at least 84 points in four straight games, and I see that trend continuing here, even with the Sky’s impressive rim protection.

It certainly helps that Ezi Magbegor, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Jordan Horston are all capable of providing double-digit points for Seattle — as they did on Friday.

The Over has been a winner in five of the last seven meetings between these teams, and both ballclubs have the offensive playmakers to turn this into a back-and-forth thriller.

Sky vs Storm same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 163

Chennedy Carter Over 18.5 points

Jewell Loyd

Chennedy Carter hasn’t taken any backward steps since replacing Dana Evans in Chicago’s starting line-up, and she torched this Seattle defense on Friday, with 33 points on 15-for-24 shooting despite not taking a single 3-point attempt.

Carter has now scored 19 or more points in five of her last six outings, and I’m predicting another tough night for the Seattle backcourt against the Sky’s in-form guard. In truth, this points prop O/U should be north of 20.

I also like the Over on Loyd’s assists total. With a stronger roster around her this season, Loyd no longer has to do it all in this Storm offense — and that’s unlocked more consistent playmaking.

She’s posted four or more dimes in six of her last eight contests, and there could be a steady diet of drive-and-kick actions for Loyd this evening with Reese and Kamilla Cardoso in the paint to cut off easy layups.

Sky vs Storm spread and Over/Under analysis

  • Given Friday’s result, it’s a little surprising to see the line as high as 9 or 9.5, though the Sky are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games.
  • While it’s tough to look past Seattle’s 8-2 home record, Chicago has recorded five of its eight wins on the road.
  • These teams delivered 172 points two nights ago despite combining to make just eight of their 33 threes — and I expect more efficient efforts from downtown tonight.
  • While the Over is just 5-5 in the Storm’s last 10 games, the O/U total has been higher than 163 in five of those contests.
