Storm vs Aces Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Storm are streaking, but our WNBA picks have their doubts if the remodeled West squad can hang with the Aces in Vegas on Friday night.

The Las Vegas Aces have dominated the Seattle Storm, and they’ll seek their 10th win in 11 games in a battle of two of the top teams in the WNBA Friday night.

Seattle comes into this one riding a five-game winning streak, pulling into a virtual tie with the Aces for fourth in the overall standings.

That hasn’t convinced the books much, though, still marking Vegas as 8.5-point favorites, where my Storm vs. Aces prediction focuses.

Read on to see why my WNBA picks are favoring the Aces to cruise in these teams’ first showdown.

Storm vs Aces predictions

My best bet
Aces -8.5 (-108 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Las Vegas is back with another high-octane offense, leading the W in scoring at 87.7 points per game, while shooting a crisp 33.7% from 3-point range, which ranks second overall.

The Aces have ripped off wins in three of their last four, with blowout wins over Indiana, Minnesota, and Dallas. A four-point loss in Atlanta was their only blemish in that stretch.

Seattle is one of the few teams that can keep the scoring pace with the Aces, averaging 84 points per game, which ranks fourth in the league. The Storm are also the WNBA’s top rebounding team, and they do work inside, ranking second in paint points at 41.1 per game.

That should be one of the main battle points Friday, as Las Vegas is the top defensive team in the paint, allowing just 30.6 points per game.

Seattle should own an advantage in the 3-point shooting battle: The Storm are hitting at a 32.6% rate from distance, which ranks Top 4, while Las Vegas is the league’s worst squad defending the moneyball, with teams shooting it at a 38.3% clip against.

The numbers haven’t meant anything as much as the results, though, as it's been a virtual blowout city in Vegas’ favor, winning all four matchups a season ago by an average of 29 points. In fact, just two of the last seven head-to-heads have been settled by five points or less — and all of them Aces wins.

Until the Storm are able to break through and pick up a win, it makes good betting sense to take the dominant team.

Storm vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)

A'ja Wilson Over 26.5 points

Kelsey Plum Over 2.5 threes made

Jewell Loyd Over 4.5 assists

A’ja Wilson is on some kind of heater. The Aces’ franchise lady is coming off a season-best 36 points, with 12 boards, six steals, and two assists in a 95-81 win over Dallas.

The WNBA’s leading scorer, averaging 27.9 points per game, Wilson has scored at least 28 points in four straight, averaging 30.5 per game on a blistering 55.6% shooting.

While she went Under this number in three meetings last season, Wilson’s last outing against the Storm was a gem: 30 points on 12-for-21 shooting with 10 boards in a 103-77 win.

You have to roll Kelsey Plum’s 3-point shooting prop into this SGP. She’s leading the league in attempts per contest at just under 10, as well as makes at 3.3, while shooting it at 34.4%, just outside the Top 15.

Plum’s line is set at 2.5, and she’s been around that number in every game this season, topping it five times, and missing the Over by a single 3-pointer in the two other games.

In four games against the Storm a year ago, Plum topped the total twice, and made two triples in another.

Let’s wrap this up with Seattle's leading scorer Jewell Loyd, who happens to be the team’s second-best setup person, averaging 3.9 assists per game. Loyd has upped that output over the last three games, with six assists each against the Mercury, Fever and Sky.

Vegas has allowed an opponent to top five assists against them in five of seven games this season, and Loyd has a good chance of making it six of eight.
