The Las Vegas Aces beat the Seattle Storm 78-67 in Sunday’s Game 1, and the two-time reigning champs will look to advance to the semifinals with a Game 2 victory on Tuesday.
The Aces ended the season on a roll, and Las Vegas has been stellar across its last two opening-round playoff series. My Storm vs. Aces predictions think you should lay the points with Las Vegas at home. Find out why in my WNBA picks below.
Storm vs Aces predictions
My best bet
Aces -7.5 (-112 at FanDuel)
My analysis
The Las Vegas Aces were favored by as many as 9.5 points when this line opened, but the return of Defensive Player of the Year candidate Ezi Magbegor to the Seattle Storm frontcourt has driven it down by a bucket. I was happy to take this one at 9.5, so I’ll gladly bet it at 7.5 despite a bolstered Seattle interior defense.
The Aces haven’t been remarkable against the spread on the season, going 20-20-1 through 41 games, but Las Vegas has kicked it into high gear when it matters, going 9-0-1 ATS across its last 10 games. Las Vegas has covered in four straight against the Storm and eight of the last 10 matchups against Seattle.
Over the last 10 games of the regular season, Las Vegas sported the second-best defensive rating of any team in the WNBA, and most impressively, the Aces were the only team with a double-digit net rating (13.2). Dating back to the 2022 playoffs when Las Vegas went on its first title run, the team has beaten opponents by an average of 25.7 points across four first-round games at home.
The Aces have a likely date with the top-seeded Liberty on tap for the next round, and they’ll want to close the door on the Storm at home to avoid a winner-takes-all Game 3 in Seattle. I’m backing the two-time defending champs to close out this series and cover the spread for the 10th time in 11 games.
Storm vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)
Nneka Ogwumike averaged 7.6 rebounds per game in 2024, so an average night will cash this Over for us. She pulled down at least eight boards in 20 of 37 contests, so the odds on this prop are understandably short at -130. Betting this one solo isn’t a profitable option, but adding to it our SGP to boost our payout is a no-brainer.
She cashed this Over in three of five matchups against the Aces this season, including two of three on the road. Las Vegas allowed the third-most rebounds to opponents this season, so this is an exploitable matchup for Ogwumike in a win-or-go-home situation.
Gabby Williams’ PRAs line was a meager 17.5 when I added it as the third leg to my parlay for Game 1, and the line jumped to 21.5 after Williams went for 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in Game 1. Despite the upward line movement, I’ll happily take the Over.
She's posted at least 22 PRA in seven of her last nine outings and averaged 22.4 PRA along the way. Like Ogwumike, she’ll just need to be average to hit the Over, and including this prop as the final leg of our parlay pushes the odds to a profitable +725.
