Dabo Swinney and Clemson just keep destroying everything their path, and the college football betting world expects nothing less every Saturday. Sure, it’s easy to side with the Tigers when looking at our free picks, but who better to stop a well-oiled machine than the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY?!
You don’t think the Yellow Jackets know a thing or two about machines? They ARE the machines! Nice throw, Trevor Lawrence, but get back to us when you can successfully manage a complex system of particle accelerators!
Sometimes you have to pump yourself up when the Tigers are more than three-touchdown favorites, and that’s what we’re going for here. Let’s take a look at our best college football predictions for No. 1 Clemson at Georgia Tech, scheduled for Saturday, October 17 at 12:00 ET in Atlanta.

Against the spread (ATS) pick
It’s hard to say anything about Clemson that you haven’t already heard. They’re the top team in the country for a reason, and the Tigers just got finished fileting the Miami Hurricanes 42-17 on national television. Heisman Trophy favorite Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne were unstoppable with five touchdowns between them, while the Tigers D was impressive in containing Canes quarterback D’Eriq King.
The Yellow Jackets ended their two-game slide with a 46-27 victory against the Louisville Cardinals last Saturday. Georgia Tech loves to run behind its big offensive line with freshman Jahmyr Gibbs racking up 232 yards on the ground this season, but quarterback Jeff Sims is the team’s leading rusher.
This may be a letdown spot for Clemson, but Georgia Tech’s defense is giving up 448.8 yards per game, and the Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last six. It’s a ton of points to lay, but I’m just not confident that the Jackets can cover unless Clemson sleepwalks for four quarters.
PREDICTION: Clemson -26.5 (-110)
Over/Under pick
This feels like a game where the Tigers show up, take a while to get going, and then put their foot on the gas. Once that happens, Clemson will be content to let the clock run and go back to South Carolina with an easy victory. The Under is 8-1 in the Tigers' last 9 games as road favorites, and I’m backing that trend.
PREDICTION: Under 60.5 (-110)
Team total pick
The Georgia Tech offensive line has been great this year, allowing only two sacks all season. The bad news is that Sims is a freshman who has tossed five touchdowns and eight interceptions. Expect Clemson to make him throw the ball — and for bad things to happen when he does.
Now, if the Yellow Jackets could maybe build me a machine that selects winners each week, we can work something out, and I can revise my pick.
PREDICTION: Georgia Tech team total Under 16.5 (+100)
