Multiple oddsmakers provided insights on MLB opening lines and early line movement, sharp money and public betting for Wednesday’s games. Covers will update this action report with MLB sharp picks vs. public bets and line movement throughout the day.

MLB line movement

UPDATE 8:15 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: PointsBet USA's Patrick Eichner said the Dodgers opened -240, dipped to -225, and the line is now Los Angeles -240/San Diego +190. The total literally just moved from 8.5 to 8.

UPDATE 6:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: The Yankees opened -122 at FanDuel and peaked at -136 a couple of times before receding a few cents to -130, with the Rays +114.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: The Yankees opened -124 and moved to -139 at DraftKings, then dialed back to -132, with the Rays +110.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: BetMGM opened the Astros -115 against the A's, and it's now down to a -106 pick 'em in a must-win situation for Oakland. The Yankees opened -125 and moved to -130 against the Rays (+115), and the Dodgers opened -210 and quickly jumped to -223 against the Padres (+200).

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: FanDuel opened the Braves -205 and stretched to -225, but the moneyline is now at Atlanta -200/Miami +174. The total opened at 9 but has spent all day today at 8.5. The Padres-Dodgers Game 2 line just went up, at Los Angeles -200/San Diego +172. The Padres-Dodgers total is 9, despite San Diego sending Zach Davis (7-4, 2.74 ERA) against Los Angeles' always-stingy Clayton Kershaw (6-2, 2.16 ERA).

Tampa Bay bounced back from a 9-3 drubbing in Game 1 to beat New York 7-5 Tuesday and tie the best-of-five ALDS at a game apiece. Game 3, with a 7:10 p.m. ET start, opened at Yankees -122/Rays +112 late Tuesday night, with no early line movement.

Houston notched a 5-2 victory Tuesday to take a 2-0 series lead and can eliminate Oakland in a 3:35 p.m. ET first pitch. Caesars books opened Game 3 at Astros -115/A’s +105 and made the smallest possible move Tuesday night, to -116/+106.

The Los Angeles Dodgers send ace Clayton Kershaw out for Game 2 of their NLDS against the San Diego Padres. In Tuesday's Game 1, the Dodgers broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the sixth inning and made those runs stand up in a 5-1 victory. With that game ending late, most sportsbooks didn’t post the Game 2 line Tuesday night, so check back for updates on this 9:08 p.m. ET contest.

The baseball day begins at 2:08 p.m. ET, with Game 2 of the Miami Marlins-Atlanta Braves NLDS. In Game 1, Atlanta exploded for six runs in the seventh inning en route to a 9-5 victory. The Braves opened -200 at Caesars for Game 2, with Miami +180, and there was no movement Tuesday night.

MLB sharp money

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: It appears that Rays-Yankees has early sharp money on the Under at FanDuel. The total opened at 9 and dipped to 8.5, with 76 percent of tickets on the Over, but 58 percent of money on the Under.

MLB public betting

UPDATE 8:15 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: PointsBet USA's Patrick Eichner said the aforementiond fresh move from 8.5 to 8 on the Padres-Dodgers total was a market move. The book actually still needs the Under, with ticket count two-way, but 80 percent of money on the Over. On the moneyline, the Dodgers are taking 80 percent of tickets and cash.

UPDATE 6:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Tickets are running about 3/1 and money 4/1 on the Yankees at FanDuel, shortly before first pitch against the Rays. And the public is piling on the Yankees -1.5 on the runline, at 87 percent of bets/88 percent of cash. Betting on the total at FanDuel has shifted notably from earlier today, when 78 percent of tickets were on the Over, but 58 percent of money was on the Under. Now, ticket count is still about 4/1 on the Over, and the Over is getting 62 percent of money, too.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: On the moneyline at DraftKings, tickets are running about 2/1 and money about 4/1 on the Yankees. Yankees -1.5 on the runline is even more popular, landing 83 percent of bets and 91 percent of money. And bettors are on Over 9, which is drawing 79 percent of bets/88 percent of money.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: At BetMGM, Houston is attracting 57 percent of early tickets and 66 percent of early money against Oakland. Ticket count and money are also running about 2/1 on the Over, with the total at 9. Rays-Yankees moneyline betting splits show a divide, with 60 percent of tickets on Tampa Bay and 80 percent of handle on New York.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Moneyline ticket count on Marlins-Braves is running 50/50 at FanDuel, but Atlanta is drawing 71 percent of dollars wagered. More so, bettors are taking the Braves -1.5 on the runline, with 90 percent of tickets and money in that market going to Atlanta. On the total, 63 percent of bets and 70 percent of money are on the Over.
