That perception is why he is getting such a short price. Hopkins looked "good" against Pascal, Dawson didn't. However, two completely different fights and fighters. This is a terrible fight for Hopkins.

hopkins will be fighting his third highly competitive 12 round fight in less than a year. he is 46.

prime boxers generally only fight twice a year.

i love dawson here. if hopkins beats me, congrats.

fwiw, i am a huge hopkins fan and b-hop has made me money (dlh,trinidad) in the past.

i had the over in that fight and lost because of the headbut. dawson was coming on very strong at the end and had pascal hurt. without the headbut, who knows what might have happened.

i had dirrel against aa with the same situation. i was relieved when they called the fight as aa was coming down hard and i believe could have stopped dirrell.

I just got down on BHop at +110 for 3 units. 

Dawson's camp has been a mess, reportedly.  This fight was a tough one for me, and I've gone back and forth on it.  Dawson needs to be in the right frame of mind though.  I'm betting against that.

I think Dawson is to young and athletic (and fundamentally good) and will be to busy for B-Hop. Similar to B-hop vs Taylor except that Dawson is a much better fighter and has good stamina, Hopkins is a pound-for-pound great and already a legend, but this fight I say Dawson wins around 8 or 9 rounds to win a decision.

Please donate your money to needed people instead of betting Dawson.Hopkins wins this hands down.Zeik how in the world Dawson wins 8 or 9 rounds vs Hopkins if he  won less than that against Glen Johnson?

Dawson is nothing spectacular for me,he can be hit and he will be frustrated against Hopkins.For me Taylor is faster and stronger than Dawson period.Dawson has no chance but to fight Hopkins and believe me he will lose.

Hey walk are you impressed with Dawson resume? lol.oh yes he beat Tarver, great,oh Johnson too!! really nothing pal,you cannot find a real world class name there,hmm maybe Adamek, Hopkins would kill him too.Dawson gave all he could and nothing will change in this fight.

I got 5 parlays all with Hopkins, he simply wont allow a guy like Dawson to beat him, the executioner is just a style Dawson hasnt seen yet, like Pascal and will get frustrated.The executioner makes history again..

albo2006: First off all they are different fighters. Do you remember years ago when they asked Dawson who he wanted to fight and who he didn't. He basically said he preferred not to rematch Johnson because even though he's an old warrior, he is relentless and has a big hard punch that can put any light heavyweight to sleep any round of the fight. Dawson showed Johnson plenty of respect. He won't hesitate combo shots against Hopkins like he did against Johnson. The last KO win Hopkins had was over 7 years ago when he was still in his 30's (39), and he did it with a body shot against an overblown 155lbs Oscar (who he won a very controversial decision over Sturm; his beating Sturm was a contingency for a PPV mega $56 million), Dawson will open up more with less to fear in retaliation. Hopkins is one the the greatest tactical fighters and among the top defensive masters of the game, but fearing a KO from Hopkins is unlikely.

Im on Dawson the whole way here. B-hop has made me some great money in the past, but I think this was not the best fight for Hopkins. He is an amazing 46 years old and at that age against a fighter of Dawsons caliber in the prime of his career, and B-hop has never had a one punch that could turn the fight around and at this age, he specially doesnt have it. This will be a 12 round decision and Hopkins could keep it close but I se Chad pulling away in the later rounds because of stamina and not being worried about Hopkins power at all. Hopkins is probably one of the greatest fighters this era has seen, but at this point, I see Hopkins going out on his shield, finishing the fight, but basically being carried all the way to the finish line by Dawson.

you have to think dawson hasnt seen anything like bernard style yet,you think he will jab hopkins all night and thats it!!! no way.

Dawson isnt in hopkins league and never will,he hasnt faced someone as smart as hopkins , and im sure he wont be able to win the fight with just being busy or with a jab.hopkins will be able to put smart presure on him and land the best punches, and remember dawson doesnt know how to fight on the inside, dawsons defense is not good enough to avoid hopkins punches and i see hopkins winning a desicion here.

Even though Bernard is great, remember he is not a true light-heavyweight. No matter if he weighs-in all muscle 175lbs, he is a small for light heavyweight. Beating Winky was easy for him as Winky is around the same size and is defensive and only a jab. Strong fast fighters with a jab cause B-Hop problems, like Calzaghe. The biggest question is how sharp will Dawson be... he better be alert and fire the jab and not get sloppy as he does seem to drift off in fights. Also, I was watching the weigh-in more for Dawson than B-Hop, I knew B-Hop was coming strong (like every other fight), I wanted to see Dawson's condition and mind-set if he was engaged in words. If Hopkins is able to capitlize on the lack of speed or accuracy in Dawson's jab, then we know the outcome.
  The best way to beat a master defensive fighter and one of the greatest technicians in boxing is 1. Totally unmatched speed and power (not dawson) 2. Jab more often and give less chances for B-Hop to time and counter different punches .. does Dawson have that type of jab? Will he use it properly and often? Will he stay consistent in his jab to win?

Tough fight to call. I have a sleight lean to Hopkins but would not bet more then a unit. Dawson has the skills to win but too often fights with his head up his ass. The last Pascal fight..a perfect example. Dawson needs to control the distance & stay in the middle of the ring ...to be successful. It will come down to -

Dawson's jab Vs: Hopkins right hand ...most likely


Fight will go the distance, but at the huge odds... Not worth a bet.

I still like Hopkins. If Dawson was what is hyped up to be I would like Dawson but I just think he is over rated. I can be wrong and that is just my opinion but I think the old man used tricks of the trade to get Dawson. Similar to Ortiz being new to Big Time Fights and making a colossal error, I think Dawson will make many small errors because he has been in this situation enough.
