New guy here. I am thinking about venturing into boxing myself. After watching countless of fights on television, and a few live matches, I fell in love with the sport.
Anyway, what I wanted to ask about was the equipment. I suppose going to the gym covers quite a few things, but I still need to get some stuff myself. A bag to carry everything is not an issue for me, as pretty much any will do. However, shoes are a bit more complicated. Don't listen to someone online regarding training tips in some random forum. Go to a gym and listen to what your coach tells you. Plenty of boxers lift weights, especially at the bigger weights so that is definitely incorrect. I boxed for 6 years and everyone's body is different. I never felt strong without incorporating weight training into my training, everyone is different. Also knew fighter's that never lifted weights, knew many that did. As far as the tight skin comment, smh. That's irrelevant as you venture into amateur boxing. Try to find a good gym with good reviews. No matter what you think, you will not be good at boxing when you 1st start and you will take your lumps. Don't let that discourage you. Keep going everyday, coaches notice that and will be more willing to spend more time with you.

Just because you had to lift weights because u were a simp doesnt mean everyone lifts weights, boxers are encouraged to not lift weights it shortens your jab. For example one of the most built fighters in history Mike Tyson - rarely lifted weights (primarily for shoulder shrugs but besides that not much weight lifting and he was 200+ lbs
The tight skin comment is perfectly relevant - Why do you think they have ice baths???? the cold water pushes your blood inside towards your vital organs. warm
water has opposite effect, speading more blood outwards towards your
skin and limbs.
im sorry you are comfortable with the mediocrities of life but every amateur boxer should want/intend to go pro , most just suck and dont do it ...what if hes a good amateur? then should he worry about tightening his skin?

Mike Tyson is literally the worst example, like Holyfield and almost evry other high profiled boxer in the 90's, they were on some sort of PEDs. Hell even Bruno was on that garbage.

I had 19 amateur fights with a 15-4 record, and won a city novice title. Again it wasn't my main sport and I went on to play college football rather than continue to box. All I really said to start with was that your advice to someone that's never even been in a boxing gym was f.ucking retarded. That was it. Then you came in beating your chest like you were the baddest man alive. Your age does matter, as you fought mostly younger kids while you were in your mid to late 20's and had success in doing that. Take that into consideration while comparing your amateur success to what you've done as a pro. What was even more telling is how I saw you bashing Oscar Delahoya in another thread. A golden boy card is something you should aspire to be on one day so Idk why you would publicly bash the promoter lol. Listen, I've sparred much better pro's than yourself but yes you would now get the best of me in a sparring match. Does that make you feel Proud? Overall you just sound like a very dumb person, no offense but that is how you come off. Getting ko'd in your 1st pro fight should of given you a bit of humility, apparently it hasn't.
