why was the fight between mayweather and marquez approved by yhe boxing commission,this is a waste of money,a one sided figth where marquez will be hammerered by mayweather.
do you think people will buy tickets or get pay per view for this very insignificant fight
i think this figth is just to make mayweather appear good on his first fight after retirement.there are alot of other good figthers outthere.why choose marquez

ummm....JMM is on most P4P lists out there.  go to boxrec and look at his recent resume.  He seems like a good opponent for Mayweather.  Question is, how beatable is Mayweather?  We may have to wait too see if he ever fights Pac, which may or may not happen

jmm is a wonderful fighter but at 144......i dont know....Diaz had him hurt and battered until the hand of god saved him.........Diaz isnt a hard punching 135......Mayweather has pop when he decides to use it but he is quicker then anyone in the sport including pacman....love him or hate him respect him.....It defenitaly a payperview fight...im saving my money for mayweather-pacman...or cotto in the fall......

to me marquez is one hell of  a figther at 130 pounds.i have great respect for him at 130 pounds.he was hammered in the early rounds by diaz at 135 pounds after which he still won.i have to call his figth against mayweather insignifant since at 143 pounds he is no match for mayweather .the outcome of the figth is a clear cut mayweather win.
why cant mayweather pick a figthter  who would really give him a run for his. money.

He's taking this fight because Pacquiao won't fight him.  Many people think Marquez is 2-0 against Manny. 

The reason this will sell is because everyone knows Marquez leaves nothing in the ring, but besides that Marquez doesn't have a shot. I commented many times after the Diaz fight, Marquez doesn't have the CHIN NOR PUNCH to even be at 135. A VERY light punching Diaz had him REALLY hurt a few times.

 I picked Marquez in that fight because I knew Diaz couldn't punch, and in the end Marquez's skill will shine and it did but not before Diaz showed us Marquez doesn't belong at 135. I commented Marquez is the best at 130, and he BETTER go down there asap!

Marquez has been chasing Manny Pacquio for so long now, he needs to let go of the ghosts that haunt him. Pac-man is a ULTRA-Super STAR who will only fight Mega PPV events now. Why would Pac-man fight a guy who easily could be 2-0 against him again? When he can fight a Ricky Hatton and make a Guaranteed 12 million + PPV revenue!

"Fighting Floyd because Pac-man won't fight him" is just silly and immature of Marquez, he needs to man up and realize he had two chances and the public and media want Mayweather Vs Pac-man.

Marquez lost a ton of stock by fighting at 135 and while it was an amazing fight, he took a decent beating until the 7th round. Remember this was a EASY HITTABLE RAW Boxer who is a LIGHT PUNCHER and Marquez at many times looked as if he was gassed and WAY weaker, Diaz pushed him around the ring until later in the fight.

Think about this Diaz was exposed by Nate Campbell, who 100 % broke Diaz down and apart. Is Nate Better than Marquez? HMMM probably not but he is naturally BIGGER so his punches took a much bigger toll on Diaz than Marquez punches did.

Floyd is a Genius, take the one guy who did very well against Pac-man and destroy him at a 143/144 weight knowing you will demolish the guy because the man cannot carry the weight, at 135 Marquez was suspect, 130 is where he belongs.   I don't see Marquez lasting more than 5-6 rounds.

Sure he will give it his all, but that is not enough as Floyd is not a fighter who will go to war, and that's who Marquez needs. Marquez is known to go down, he cuts and moving up WAY too HIGH of a weight.

Would I want to see Marquez/Pac-man III of course, but that will NOT give Pac-man the paydays he's been accustomed to lately.That fight is a boxing fans dream, and will stay that way until Floyd KO's Marquez and beats Pac-man and people will realize Pac-man is great so is Marquez let them fight again, that is the ONLY way they will fight again!

There is no shame in Marquez losing to Floyd, he's outclassed in every aspect and personally this line should be a lot higher, because Marquez as amazing as he is at 130, will be like a little boy against Mayweather.

Anyone who thinks Marquez has a legit shot, is smoking a crack pipe :) I love Marquez, but watch the Diaz fight, a B+ fighter at best and a LIGHT punching straight forward fighter was rocking him  and  MOVING him at 135.

Marquez has NO choice but to take this fight, it will be his biggest payday he's going to be what 36 and been in wars, and he knows his only way of getting to Pac-man is through Floyd, but that's where he hits a brick wall and the plan fails.

I agree some can question 18 months for Floyd, but look at him he doesn't walk around over weight. He's a gym rat like Mosley and Hopkins.

 See now when Winky Wright took 18 months off, we know Winky Walks around much heavier plus against Hopkins his body looked horrible by going up in weight, Winky had titties, I love them but not on dudes!

If weight (strength) wasn't an issue  then why was he ROCKED and MOVED across the ring by a LIGHT punching 135 pound fighter?

If his skills are diminishing, then going UP in weight will take away his speed and movement, make him an even easier target.

Remember Marquez is a great technician but regardless he ENGAGES and he does NOT match up with Floyd any way you slice it.

What I saw in the Diaz fight, is a great technician who STARTS out slow and adjusts as the fight goes on, he did this against Pac-man in the first fight after getting decked 3 times he adjusted QUICKLY.

I bring up that fight because even though Pac-man decked him they were flash knock downs and Pac-man didn't really HURT him that much, but DIAZ clearly HURT Marquez and I see Pac-man as the MUCH HARDER PUNCHER.

 I'm 100 % sure it's weight, you don't suddenly lose your skill, yes you lose speed and some agility as you age, but Marquez STILL has laser like punches evident in the Diaz fight. Diaz was just TOO strong for him.

 I love Marquez at 130 pounds, he deserves every dollar me makes in this PPV because he gave so much to boxing more than many others that I can remember. So he's over matched in this fight, at least he will make the biggest check of his life.

He also will have a chance to GO down in weight after this fight.

Remember De La Hoya went up in weight for a TUNE UP against a unknown fighter at that time named Felix STURM, OSCAR LOST that fight in a landslide! Sturm's JAB rocked Oscar and he ate Oscars best punch like it was NOTHING!

Oscar already had HOPKINS signed in advance, being Hopkins and him became partners after his "NON liver shot" that he claimed to put him down!

That fight showed Oscar was WAY out of his league not so much in class but in weight, STRUMS JAB moved OSCAR across the ring and guess what STURM was paid off and sent back to Germany and people haven't seen him since!

I follow it he is a good fighter but point is, Marquez showed he had his counter punching, and movement after the 4th round, but a LIGHT punching Diaz rocked and moved him, hate repeating myself but it's so evident!

I myself would say 5/6 rounds by KO but knowing Mayweather may want to get some rounds in could be a later KO, but this is NOT going the distance as FLOYD needs to FINISH Marquez Easier than Pac-man did, because Pac-man finished Hatton Quickly.

This way it's a MUST FIGHT, between Mayweather/Pac-man.
Again this is nothing against Marquez, he is the best at 130 and I love him as a fighter and he a legend in my eyes.

Regardless of the love and respect I have for him, this fight is a mismatch so Floyd can demand a match against Pac-man.

Mack last thing I would want to do is sway anyone from their own pick. I feel we all make valid points and hopefully at the end people can gain some insight, heck even us as we write and converse back and forth we can see things we didn't see before.

mayweather to win.......easy 4 to 1 favorite win.....Honestly it can go either way...Marquez before the diaz fight was great because he is just a superior counter puncher....versus mayweather what stratgy does he use....does he try to trade with him cause i doubt floyd would even let that happen and floyd would rock him................

 

Actaully his first test at 135 was against the aging Joel Casamayor  in which again he started slow and took him until around the 5th or 6th to adjust, admittedly Casamayor is a slick boxer but he lost 5 rounds before adjusting.

He even them got nailed every time he came IN, evident in the Diaz fight. I may have to agree with Mack a slight bit and AGREE Marquez is NOT what he was when he fought Pac-man. He's even more hittable and cuts even easier than ever. He also seems like he cannot pull the trigger as much as he used to.

Against Pac-man he landed some amazing combos, a straight right and a left hook before a very fast Pac-man could escape... but he isn't able to do that anymore.

Seeing how he fares against two 135 pound fighters NOT known for punching power makes him an even BIGGER target now.

Remember this was NOT the same Joel Casamayor of years ago this was a pretty flat footed Joel Casamayor.

SO I agree with Mack, Marquez has lost some of that ability, and my own view is great pay day but he is out classed and out powered at 147, (Heck even at 135 is pushing it for him).

We know his chin isn't that solid (not weak), but he can be put down. Many were from head shots, but with Floyd, this will be from body shots also looks like more and more of a Massacre  every time I analyze the fight. I wouldn't mind but I love Marquez as a fighter hope he comes out of this mega-rich and healthy!

 i had casamoyer and was loving the first 7 or 8 rounds..........Marquez got lucky versus diaz....Never realize diaz had no pop but the kid should fight lighter...he looked so flabby that day......Marquez has no value and this comin from mr value............Lets say i rather see ortiz and maidana and juarez john 2 then watch mayweather clinic and zab all jab judah...

Diaz has always looked that way lol he has never had a muscle in his body, always had that baby fat on him.

I picked Marquez also, ONLY because Diaz had no pop. I was actually surprised that Diaz moved Marquez so easily with only a 5 pound increase in weight.  I posted immediately right after the fight Marquez better drop back down to 130 any  strong 135 boxer would had KO'd HIM that night.

What does he do? He goes up to 147 to Fight the best, either way he gets a massive paycheck, but not good for his career which now seems not much left as he only really wants Pac-man and that will never happen again.

I just hope he gets this pay-check and retires because Mayweather likes to keep guys in fights before finishing them, like he did to Hatton, Hatton got off easy with Pac-man, pretty much a few punches and OUT!.

I hope Marquez comes out of it safely! I love him as a fighter, but he's in WAY over his head.

Marquez has the heart of a LION. I agree you can never tell with a layoff but even if Floyd came in 3/4 of what he was, the weight issue and Marquez not the fighter he was is still way too much.

I do see Marquez coming forward NO one can stop him from coming forward but he is used to brawling Mexicans and small fighters not a guy who can destroy you and NOT be HIT.

As much as Marquez will try to force the action (we love him for that), you cannot hit what is not there.

I think we agree on a lot of things, but as much as I love Marquez and his heart and grit Floyd is out to do damage and make a statement.

Marquez will be in the hall of fame regardless of this fight, why it's even being made is beyond me. 147 is too high.  This again will be another prop fight as Not going the distance will be a good bet because Floyds Ring Rust (everyone has it no matter who you are) will allow Marquez to exchange a bit but that's where Marquez is most vulnerable after an exchange.

Floyd has every punch in his Arsenal.

Either way I hope we see an amazing fight.

I'm looking forward to the Clottey/Cotto fight this is a highly inflated line for such a good fighter as Clottey. Guess Vegas already included MSG + Puerto Day Eve Parade in the price.
