i read a lot about people concerned about the ring size but i really think that there is a chance that martinez doesnt cares about this. i see sergio, especially in the later part of his career, as the typical latino fighter with heart, bravado and ego. i believe that there is a good chance that the last thing martinez is thinking about is dancing the last four or five rounds in route to a comfortable decision; especially going for a decision in light of this being an top rank promotion and julio being the golden boy for wbc president jose suliaman. i dont think a lot about martinez compared to past mw champions( imo he is no better than william joppy) but in many fights he comes with a ktfo or get ktfo trying attitude.
and i think he wants to ktfo julio ceasar chavez jr.

canelo is going to stop sergio when he couldnt stop a 40-year-old mosely?
i would be a little cynical about a guy who had the opportunity to fight vanes, lara, bundrage, quillan, trout, molina and kirkland yet decided to physically take advantage of a guy that is only three months removed from a very physical first fight at 147 and was fighting eight round 140 pounders just over a year and a half ago.
there is something seriously wrong with canelo/josesito.
its entirely bad on all levels.

shane actually threw more punches in rounds 8-12 against canelo(332) than he did against both paq(116) and mayweather(202) so i really cant see why the fight would have been stopped. in rounds 10-12, saul only threw ten more total punches than shane(222/212).
and the mayweather fight was immediately after, imo, mosleys most career defining win over margorito(antonio was never the same after this beatdown). the canelo fight, two years later, was immediately after the paq loss where shane was seen trying to hug paq at every opportuninty and even apologized for what was an inadvertant knockdown.
if both chavez and martinez escape next months fight without severe damage there is absolutely no way gbp will put canelo in with either one at 160.
dlh wont even put him in with 40-year-old, contender runner-up corneluis bundrage.
instead, we get josesito lopez.
josesito fucking lopez.

Back to the original topic. I'm betting Martinez straight up (-210) and Martinez ITD (+286). Chavez has some physical advantages but a fighter has to have a certain baseline level of speed to even be competitive against Martinez and Chavez doesn't have it.
If I were studying to beat Martinez, one of my points of focus would be countering Martinez with the left hook when you know Martinez' cross is coming because he'll always drop his jab hand. This technique worked for Darren Barker a lil bit. Macklin tried it but couldn't pull it off effectively beacuse he's too slow. And Chavez is even slower.
A recent workout report on Spanish television revealed that Chavez has very flat feet and when he's forced to fight with bounce or be on his toes for too long it bothers him. Everyone saw the Andy Lee fight when he complained to Roach about his legs (and it was barely the end of round 3). The leg cramps are only made worse by the extreme dehydration Chavez endures to make weight. Chavez' footwork has been steadily improving but even when it looks good technically, its still slow. Martinez on the other hand is the epitamy of grace, balance, and foot speed.
Martinez is aware that this fight is a Top Rank promotion, in Las Vegas, against the son of a Mexican legend, on Mexican Independence Day, for a Mexican belt. It's the biggest fight of his life and he said he's bringing his own judges - his fists.
Chavez has a great chin but I have NO DOUBT he'll take the most punishment he ever has. I'm predicting the doctor stops it on cuts or Freddie Roach on mercy. This fight will be the coming out party Martinez has been waiting for.
