Just think about this for a moment. Floyd was less of a favorite against Gatti. Gatti was at best (G-d rest his soul) a good= Class B brawler. Marquez is twice the tacticion that Gatti could have ever dreamed of becoming. Remember Marquez gave Pac-Man fits after the early knock downs. He is a master at making adjustments during the fight. Something that only a world class boxer can be capable of... at this level of competition. I'm not so sure the lay-off will not affect Mayweather. He is known for his split second reflexes & speed. Sparring is not the same as being in an actual bout. He could be a hair slower then normal. Against an ordinary opponent it probably wouldn't matter that much but against Marquez... it can't help. Weight & reach are to Money's advantage I'll concede. I'll also admit that Floyd (on paper) is the logical favorite to Win. But laying 4.5 to 1 in a match that figures to go to the cards is just plain crazy IMO. More later.

Marquez is a guy who has never had anything given to him by the judges (John, Pacman 1 and 2), and he's clearly the B side of this card. I'm not sure this one is going to a decision, but I would expect Floyd to get the benefit of the doubt if it were somehow close.

Marquez has been down six times (in 6 different fights). If you count the 3 knock downs by Pac-man that is a total of 8 times.
This was all at 130 or lower.
He was also LOSING to Julian Wheeler on 2 score cards, in the last round the referee DQ'd Wheeler for holding, HMMM he DQ'd him by he called it a TKO. Look it up, ref had no business to DQ without a POINT deduction.
Since moving up to 130 and 135 he has looked LESS than spectacular. Since he won those fights by KO people are looking PAST how hittable he was and takes him to about round 5 before he even gets going.
People must also realize Marquez is NOT an inside fighter.
The odds may seem high especially when yes Arturo Gatti was given the same odds, but that fight was at 140. Floyd's first real bout at 140, he had one the year before that so it was FLOYD moving UP while Gatti had fought at 140 naturally.
Also realize Mayweather wasn't a big favorite over Diego Corrales and he demolished him, many said Diego was too big for him and would KO him.
People never count how many times Marquez has been on the canvas.. from COUNTER PUNCHERS at a MUCH lower weight classes, against he is now facing the BEST Counter puncher in boxing.. HMMM!

I can't get over the fact that Floyd didn't knock out out shitty-ass Baldomir. Hell, he didn't even try! Floyd by nature is a safety first fighter who doesn't like to get hit. Throw in the fact that he has brittle hands and I can't see him stopping Marquez. Marquez doesn't just throw counterpunches, he throws HARD counterpunches. Floyd can win a shutout dec if he utilizes his reach and more explosive legs but its gonna be boring. I admit - Marquez' legs have been showing their age against Casamayor and Diaz, but the man trains for explosiveness when he hits the pads and with that added bulk I'd hate to take his punches. The current version of Marquez can be overwhelmed physically, but to do so one needs to be prepared to take hard shots, and that simply is not in Floyd's nature. People who think this will look like May-Corrales or May-Gatti are stupid! I pick Floyd by closer than expected unanimous dec.

I don't think anyone thinks this will be a Gatti or Corrales. They were only brought up for betting line purposes. I loved Gatti as a person/brawler but was a C+ technical fighter at best. Corrales was a decent fighter I would say a B- Fighter.
I don't think ANYONE believes Marquez is just going to fold, he is one guy you will have to take out in a body bag before quitting.
Marquez is used to fighting either brawlers or technical brawlers, Chris John was the most complete boxer Marquez faced.
I also agree the fight COULD be a stinker, it won't be Marquez's fault he is never in a boring fight. I can see Marquez getting frustrated by Floyd unwilling to trade and that could be his downfall, cannot see him waiting for Floyd for 12 rounds just not who Marquez is.
Baldomir was a Large guy really was a 154 fighter, but fought at 147. Floyd should have taken him out but when you play defense first and the guy you are fighting is not an offensive fighting machine it will make for a boring ugly fight.
Floyd always does best when he is the bigger guy, he has everything going in his favor this fight, Height, speed, power, defense.
I say power because he is naturally the much bigger guy, Marquez is strong but jumping pretty much 2 weight classes is a huge chore.
This is nothing against Marquez, I believe he is one of the best things to happen to boxing and deserves this payday more than any other fighter out there. He paid his dues, happy for him to collect.

No way. On a GBP fight card? They won't nothing more than a Mayweather loss. Mayweather won't leave this up to the cards if he can help it.

Golden Boy whined loudly but did nothing to help Marquez against Pacquiao the 2nd time around. Floyd doesn't take this fight if there is any chance of them stealing from him. He holds all of the cards, has had his way in the entire negotiation, and Oscar would be much more interested in getting Floyd in with Mosley or some other GBP fighter than trying to throw Marquez in with Pacman again (he never would get that fight on winnable terms anyhow). Let's face it, Marquez is a guy who has had a career of raw deals, and Oscar has no plans to change it up. I don't see this at all as a fight Floyd has to win by KO, and the bookies seem to agree

DatMofoThere85=== I totally agree with your analysis. I think you made some very good points.
Mayweather only consistantly punches in combinations when he either
1. Totally out classes his opponents.
2. Has someone badly hurt.
He will definitely have his hands full on Sat.
If he wants to win he better BOX because if he chooses to exchange with Marquez....he could be in for a long night. Money has the faster hands but JMM is the better counter puncher IMO. Timing can sometimes beat speed. Marquez should concentrate on the body early if he is to wants to be sucessful. Either way... this figures to be a chess match & a great fight for boxing purists.
