Greatest boxer of this generation vs a 0-0 tomato can. And people are asking What's the rationale to picking against the tomato can. I'm at a loss for words

Do you think Floyd will finish him?  He isnt an aggressive fighter, I get the whole Conor thing, but Floyd's fights have all been the same, he doesnt take many risks.  He wins his rounds and becomes this awesome shell that doesnt take many punches, and then counters when he sees an opening, never really throwing knockout punches or combinations.

Mcgregor will get frustrated after he can't hit him in the first few rounds and open up more getting sloppy- meaning his defense will suck. He was gassed after round 1 with Diaz his first fight and you could tell he was trying to slow the pace the second fight. 12 rounds just seems like a long stretch for someone trying to make a career in boxing vs possibly the best boxer in history. Majority of Connor's fights have been stopped under 2 rounds, he never goes the distance. I think Mayweather will play it safe as usual but if Connor gets discouraged, I could easily see him ending up in a corner taking hits ending up in a TKO.

You need to check yourself or lay off the chronic because it's people like you arguing that McGregor can win this fight who anyone who knows the fight game will laugh at.  I get it, you're a MMA fan and probably hate on boxing.  That's cool.  But what if this was a MMA fight, ans some boxing fan who hasn't watched 10 minutes of MMA says that Floyd would beat McGregor in a MMA fight.  That person would be an insane ignorant idiot.  This is the EXACT same thing you are doing, suggesting McGregor has any hope in hell of winning.  It's insanity.

If Floyd fought McGregor in MMA the fight would last one kick.  McGregor kicks him in the leg, down goes Floyd. Fight over. Kicks him in the body, down goes Floyd. Fight over. Kicks him in the head, night night goes Floyd. Fight over.  

It's the same mismatch in boxing for Floyd's favor.  Instead in this story they all become filthy rich, Floyd probably carries him for a few rounds to give people their money's worth, and then puts him out of his misery.  It's going to be a exhibition and a money grab. Nothing more. Do not expect a competitive fight.

You can't just cross over sports and expect to compete with the best.  MMA and Boxing are so different.  In MMA you are trained to keep your hands lower to prevent takedowns.  In boxing you are only worried about hands.  This is a lifetime of Floyd perfecting that skill. Floyd protects his chin better than any fighter i have ever seen.  He is so difficult to hit clean on the chin. You're hitting gloves, arms, and elbows all fight.  He's a defensive master.  To suggest McGregor is the one to break through and KO Floyd is crazy talk.

McGregor is also 28 years old and been beaten up unlike Mayweather.
McG;s body has been thru way more punishment than Mayweather who does rarely get tagged.

Alvarez punches way harder than McG does and at best against Mayweather might have dazed him for a second.

Mayweather all the way...

My thought are:

Do you play it safe and take Mayweather to win for a small return?

Or do you take Mayweather by decision at around 2 to 1 odds?

Victor Ortiz is Mayweather's only KO/TKO in the last ten years... and if you have seen that fight you have to put an Asterisk by that KO. Ortiz was not even defending himself.

Fellas this fight is a no-play for me but I will enjoy watching it.

Remember Mayweather beat Pacquiao?  Well we saw the last Pacquiao fight, and he got beat by a less than great fighter in Australia.  Granted the fight is argued to go Pacquiao's way but Pacquiao was showing his age and being bullied.

See the similarities?  AGE fellas.

Mayweather is 40 years old!  He hasn't fought anybody since Pacquiao.  He has complained about his training, that he can't do it any more, that he needs more time recuperating, he's not the same as he was even 2 years ago, that it's his last fight he can't do it anymore.  You want your $ to take a chance on that guy?

And what is Mayweather's calling card?  Speed.  And that's the first thing that goes with age.

As far as MMA being totally different than boxing, come on.  These are combat sports.  McGregor is trained to box.

Mayweather in his prime of course it's not even a question.

I have been around a long time and heard the everybody knows what the smart play is.  The entire public is on McGregor 39 tickets to one.

And you get the people with big $ listening to everyone else laying -700 on a 40-year-old fighter who hasn't fought in a while going against a guy who's at the top of his game.  And you want to lay -700 on that?  I'll pass.

You have to think of one more thing also.

McGregor is going to weigh much more.  He's going in at 175 he could be 20 pounds heavier, much younger and in his prime.

Good luck with your -700, I'll pass.  Even if you win on that you get what, 15% forget it.

But I won't put in on McGregor either for the reasons already stated.

Curious as to your guys'  take on this.

Who's to say Mayweather doesn't tire out being 40 and constantly pressured by a younger fighter?

You saw what happened to Pacquiao and he's younger.

You know in the sport suddenly guys just don't have it any more.  It can happen in one fight.

Not saying I expect it to happen or it's probable but it is a possibility.

As far as the prefight stuff, entertaining but it's garbage.  Generally the more guys feel the need to talk the more likely they'll get their * ss kicked.

Both these guys feel the need to talk, that tells me both of them are scared.  Mayweather maybe less so, but he should be imo.

Another thing...why is Floyd taking this match?  To pay the IRS even though he knows he's finished?

One more thing if Vegas knows it's a sure thing why does the line keep coming down on Mayweather.

I agree with your other points except for this.  COnnor is a trash talker he isn't scared one bit imo.

Another thing fellas wait for the weigh in.  see the shape Floyd is in.  that could be huge one way or another.  Why press it now when you can wait for the weigh in

movies and wwe reflect this, not the other way around

these guys' reputations are on the line.  both of 'em.  somebody might be coming out a career loser and these guys are at the top of their fields.

and that's what gets me.

if floyd is doing it for the money what's his motivation

and I can understand the McGregor WWE stuff he's a showboat by nature but Floyd?  A guy 40 years old shouldn't be getting caught up in that nonsense.  So why is he.

But this McGregor stuff seem to be getting to Floyd.  He seems to be getting caught up in it.  From what I'm told this is what McGregor does he gets in guys' heads.

McGregor goes first the Floyd RESPONDS to it.  Who's playing the fool in this show

Watched the final press conference and Floyd is bring Floyd.  I don't see Conor is his head.

But I watch some film and this guy Conor can jab with speed.  This guy is no joke.  Looks like in the Nate Diaz fight he basically jabbed the guy to where his face looked like it came out of a butcher shop.

You can go ahead and put-700 on a 41 year old who hasn't fought in 2 years and say you know it all on this.  Vegas needs to drop this line and fast imo or take a ibig chance.

you could see how mayweather shut down and went baby mode when conor was laughing in his face on stage in toronto. mayweather can back out too, still think conor KO's him
