NO One can complain everyone knows how Floyd Fights and How Pac-man fights and DEMANDED this fight.

I personally would have liked Mosley/Mayweather as Mosley is much more talented than Pac-man.

Pac-man is without a doubt the most EXCITING and WILLING fighter out there but not the most talented.

Give me Floyd at -125 Chicken or not.

I thought the better fight was with Mosley as well. Been dying to see them fight for so long now.

Berto has no defense. Berto's speed might give Mosley problems...and thats about it.

Remember when Mosley fought Cotto he was in his PRIME. Look the the Venue of where the fight took place.

 One could easily say Mosley won with the thousands of over hand rights he landed on the side of Cotto's head!

I could see a draw in the Mosley/Cotto fight not because of the Cotto, but because where Cotto was fighting and his popularity.

Remember styles make fights, Mosley is a gifted Boxer, Jab, defense, great chin, good speed, and stamina.  He really has NO faults in his game.

I did not discredit Pac-man, in fact I gave him a lot of credit but when fighting a guy like Mayweather... MOSLEY gives you the best chance at winning.  Do you see what I mean STYLES make fights??

Mosley's style would fit better against Floyd than Pac-man's would.  Like I said before Pac-man is an entertaining and WILLING fighter... (probably the most right now) it's why people want HIM in the RING with Floyd.

Remember Pac-man beat a beaten man in Cotto, what you seen that night was all heart, not an ounce of boxer left in Cotto. Cotto was damaged Goods after the Maragrito fight, and DEFINITELY after Clottey got done with him.

I said this two fights ago about Cotto he was "damaged goods". His style doesn't last long in boxing, given all the tough names he fought.. no one can say he didn't have a decent career... he took a hard path from the moment he became champ all the credit to him.

Still doesn't take away that after Margarito Cotto was a mere shell of himself.


Onto Berto, this guy doesn't deserve to be in the ring with Mosley, Collazo beat him and got robbed. He has chin,stamina issues  and he's short and has nothing but quick hands which get slower during the fight.

I've never seen a top prospect LOOK so bad and get a Marquee fight. He's lucky there was NO one left for Mosley to fight.. so he gets this opportunity. Do he deserve it? NO.

Why not do an elimination tournament  between the Prospects.. the  winner gets a guaranteed shot at Mosley or a big  name.

Watch Berto against Collazo who is a decent fighter no disrespect to him, (Collazo also beat Hatton and got robbed).

Berto has looked like pure crap almost his entire career. First his chin issues showed up, then stamina.. then his reach and everything else as he stepped up in class.

The perfomance he did against Urango he should have been banned from boxing for a year... hit and HOLD.. (Intentionally).. that was the game plan.. so scared of a 140 fighter's power he was unwilling to engage.

Berto is semi-flash NO substance.. Mosley at -230 is a gift.

You got it exactly right, everything you stated above is correct, and yes Manny capitalized on it, all credit to him.  But the 4 fighters mentioned... NO ONE can say they were in their prime or  spiraling downward.

Oscar should have retired when he fought Felix Sturm.

Hatton became a drunk after Floyd beat him, walking around 200 + pounds.

David Diaz was never a decent fighter, but to Manny's credit it was his first fight at 135.. and when your name is Pac-man you need a carefully selected opponent with somewhat of a name.

Cotto was done after Maragrito, after Clottey he was toast.. how you cannot see that you must be blind.

You could flip the script and say look what Floyd did to the man to pretty much beat Pac-man twice...

It's nothing against Pac-man he is a good fighter, but he's not on Floyd's level of pure talent.

If you take a look at one GUY they both have in common that they haven't fought - Shane  MOSLEY - who Pac-man clearly DUCKED.

Do you think it's a coincidence that Pac-man fought Oscar and Ricky, and Floyd fought Marquez..? This was all set-up so we can get this Mega fight. 

I understand it, it's all about $$$ Mosley doesn't bring the PPV buys and intrigue that Pac/Floyd does.

But Mosley still is the best talented opponent for Floyd, Pac-man may be the most exciting fighter to fight Floyd, but please don't mix that up with talent.             

so the list goes on for possible excuses? drunkard, not a decent fighter etc... the bottomline is 7 titles meaning Mannys opponents were title holders so are you saying title holders are over rated untalented and not credible fighters?

fyi, the first fight of marquez and pacman, the judge who scored the fight a draw admitted that he made a mistake scoring the fight 10-7 rather than what should have been an automatic 10-6 for a 3 knock down round 1. manny never complained since he is not a cry baby and a hater like those whom he beats.

second fight, there were a lot of rounds that should have went either fighters and its not mannys fault if he caught marquez with a left which floored him. i think if not for this manny loses but since this happened manny should have really won.

how could pacman duck mosley if he had three fights last yr fighting in heavier weight classes for all three. remember cotto beat mosley! this means manny picked the better fighter and not picking mosley doesnt mean he ducked him he just wanted to beat the better guy. floyd could have fought mosley but instead picked a smaller guy beat.

by flipping the script you mean hatton lost to mannys one punch in 2 while hatton survived 10.

 

Give Pacman the credit he deserve and not find excuses for the loser why they have lost coz manny excells and step up his game. Just too bad we can't say the same with floyd and the talent he have. Pacman step up while floyd take on the over inflated old featherweight and put insult to injury came in beyond the weight limit. So far without Delaquitter  and floyd take a long lay off Pacman is keeping boxing alive.

Mosley BEGGED for the Pac-man fight, he was willing to go down to 143, give a 60-40 purse... he came on ESPN Friday night Fights literally BEGGING for Pac-man.

I don't disagree with Pacman's decision to NOT fight Mosley, for some odd reason Mosley as good as he is .. just doesn't SELL the way Floyd and Pac-man do.

I have nothing against Pac-man, I would take him to win against any other fighters except Mosley and Floyd.

Boxing is all about styles, you fail to see the point I'm driving home,. The original poster said "Fight would be boring". I replied well the public are the ones demanding it.

We all know how BOTH guys fight.. and people are dying to see this happen, simply stated I said don't expect Floyd to fight any different than he has before, same for Pac-man.

If you want a more evenly matched fight, you put Mosley versus Floyd, their style suits each other.

You put Pac-man who is offense minded first, against a defensive minded first fighter... knowing in advance each of their styles.. NO ONE can complain if the fight is a stinker. :)- That was my original POINT.           

one of the reasons why manny and floyd gets to beat their opponents is because of their speed. if you put mosley with floyd i really dont think mosley stands a chance to keep up with floyds speed and we have seen it before... the faster boxer beats the slower one. one main advantage of either floyd or manny has always been the speed and their opponents eventually become a human punching bag and this is no different if you put mosley in from of mayweather.

So mosley mayweather does not stand a chance of being an evenly match in my opinion. Manny on the other hand gives Floyd what he has not seen before, a combination of speed and power. Both fighters will never find a sparring partner that has the styles of their opponents, no one just comes close. This means that it is really a hard fight to train for both of them and that the fight day itself is the only time they will face someone of each others caliber.  

as i have said before, cotto already defeated mosley and it is really just picking the better fighter. mosley does not have a title, why would manny fight him? mosley did not defeat cotto too and its the other way around. this means he chose the better and harder fight in my opinion. plus the 7th title adds to selling the fight.

 

Speed isn't everything. Zab Judah is (or at least was) faster than Floyd Mayweather. If you think I sound crazy, watch the first 4 rounds of that fight again. Boxers not only need speed, they need skill, stamina, power, etc.

The only two fighters ever to give Shane Mosley trouble were tall jabbers -- Vernon Forrest (RIP) and Winky Wright.  Anyone that's close to Shane's size and reach are going to be in for a long, tough fight.  Also, I think Shane is a MUCH better fighter while being trained by Nazim Richardson vs Jack Mosley.

I'm definitely taking Mosley over Berto (no brainer) and I'd probably back Mosley against Mayweather or Pacquiao because he'd probably be a huge underdog value bet.

Yes, you are correct. Mosley has the WBA 147 belt, Berto has the WBC 147. Cotto won the WBO 147 against Jennings in his comeback fight after Margarito, thus Pacman now has the WBO 147 belt.  Clottey won the vacant IBF 147 by beating Judah but was stripped when he chose to fight Cotto instaed of his mandatory challenger, Isaac Hlatshwayo. Hlatshwayo won the vacant IBF welterweight title against Delvin Rodriguez in August.

I know Manny has been awesome but he is in for a hellish night when that fight happens. The way Money wants to be known for the Best Pound for Pound Fighter in the World I just don't think it means as much for Manny as it does to Money.

I can see the life changing event being one of Money's best performances ever. In fact it will be his most difficult challenge in his career and he knows what happens when he comes into this fight the weight is going to play a significant factor. I only think this because Manny is in coming up and its been said he was going to stay at 140 and this fight is at 147. Be careful what you wish for!!!

You Know that's right I see you know the division. I think Berto and Tim Bradley are the next pound for pound fighters of the near future. I will really know when Bradley takes on Peterson if he'll remain on top but when Berto mops the floor with Shane it will solidify his rise to the top of that division....

Manny will do everything to win this, election expenses in Philippine Congress is worth a minimum $10M and go up to $20M even with his popularity. AND that is not guaranteed as what happened to him last 2007. The funds would include, food, streamers, posters, daily expenses and VOTE BUYING. A WIN for him in March increases his chances of winning in his investment for the May elections. He will fight his best to say the least.

Mosley is light years ahead of Pacquiao in the talent department. Can't really dispute that when it took Pacquiao 8 years to learn how to throw a right hook. Prime vs Prime...Mosley KO under 6. Mosley was a absolute terrorist at 135.

prime vs prime? is that a hint of another possible excuse for pacman haters if mosley gets ko'd? THAT mosley was'nt in his prime thats why... we all agree that cotto was picked but isn't cotto the one who defeated mosley and isn't cotto a bigger fighter than pacquiao? so you are correct in saying cotto was picked and the picking is gutsy to say the least.
