ortiz vs. MAYWEATHER

we will also get to see floyd in a traditional type of defence, you can not use the old school shoulder roll defence against a southpaw (if your a right hander)  as it leaves you open to straight left leads,  so expect floyd to have both hands high, while throwing a lot of right hand leads that will then lead to a quick clinch,  also look for a lot of jabs to the body by floyd, ortiz is too slow to do anything about it.  I am actually pretty hyped about this one. not a fan of floyd outside the ring, but always look forward to watching him inside the ropes.

I think Floyd has adjusted enough to the point he can anticipate Ortiz so much using the shoulder wouldn't be as bad. I know the Judah fight he got caught, not in the exact same type situation, but a similar. If Ortiz had 2 more years and got seasoned against good fighters and was showing improvement, then I wouldn't tell Ortiz fans it's to fast in his career, and a great career is al about timing.

i dont see all that much difference between castillo and ortiz. both have average footwork, power in both hands, non-existent jabs and win by sheer will. castill has better defense but one could argue that ortiz has more power in their respective weight classes.

Ortiz does throw each punch with authority, but it leaves him open often. Also, Mayweather is at his very best now and has much experience. I liked Ortiz when I first saw him and even more when he lost to Maidana because that loss made Berto to be 4-1 favorite (I was waiting for the perfect opponent with Ortiz to bet when he wasn't a big favorite and got him.) Ortiz is just to inexperienced for this type of fight. Similar to Leonard vs Duran in the first bout. Even though Duran is one the greatest lightweights, so was Leonard, but experience made the difference.

Also, I think I remember hearing that Roach and Manny spoke to Ortiz before the fight and told Ortiz that he was the much stronger man and his speed inside was equal or better to Berto. Berto throws with authority as well but doesn't have that natural power like Ortiz. I feel Ortiz might be a stronger puncher than Mayweather, but accuracy and timing are more important. Mayweather hand picks fights well and only had mild difficulty with Oscar (not including Castillo). I took all action fight night for Oscar bettors and I think I gave slightly higher than sportsbooks at + 190 (Opening lines were -210 or +190, then it went down with many late Oscar money). I was a little concerned as Oscar made the fight much closer than I expected.

I'm suprised Berto accused Ortiz of illegal enahncement drugs. One thing steroids doesn't do is give you a strong chin, and as I remember Berto hit Ortiz with everything and even though he went down, he got up. Similar to Maidana but that fight he was getting badly hurt fighting toe-to-toe with Maidana (which is Maidana's game). Ortiz was originally a sparring partner for Oscar, but was let go after the first week. Oscar got a black eye and hurt ribs from Ortiz. Ortiz stated it had nothing to do with him, it was managements strategy to change partners. It's kind of hard for Ortiz to speak out against the most powerful promoter (and still boxer)... it wouldn't be a good career move to state anything negative regarding Oscar, etc.
