I see similarities in Breidis Prescott. Do I think Prescott is better then Khan? No not for one second. Khan has a weak chin so this kind of thing can happen putting him against a banger but I am sure if he survived the first few rounds that he would have completely outboxed Prescott.
Prescott WILL be exposed. Just a matter of when. I will be putting a small saver on the underdog and I will continue to fade Prescott. Lets hope he gets Valero because if he does I will be putting my house on Ed.
Boxing fans see knockouts and think a fighter is the real deal. Prescott is NOT the real deal. He should win this fight but as soon as he steps up in class this guy will be exposed and I will ne cashing in when he does
So Khan was a stepping stone? He wasn't a move up in class for Prescott ?
I agree you don't put a banger in with a guy with a weak chin, but how can you be all over khan this weekend if his chin cannot last?
A true good boxer finds ways to protect the chin, so Khan will be a champ but will not fight bangers/brawlers.. because he has a weak chin.. doesn't make sense.. a champ beats everyone.
Kotelnik is a very durable fighter, the fight this weekend reminds me of a replay of Clottey/ Cotto.. (Khan's back yard) ... Clottey being MUCH better defensively better overall skills.. and IRON chin.. versus a guy with suspect chin, suspect defense...but decent power.
Difference between Cotto and Khan is Cotto is older now and when he got rocked when he was young against a banger like Ricardo Torres he fought back and found a way to win, Khan just got laid out.
Taking Khan for so much money is very dangerous not because he cannot win, but because of the chin, and low level opposition, you cannot count a washed up Barrera and well he got leveled by Prescott who is fighting tonight who you say isn't that good.. doesn't speak volumes for Khan..
I expect a repeat performance same prediction for the Clottey fight (which we know how it was scored).
I pick Kotenlik he CAN win by KO about a 25 % chance of happening.. and it will go to the scorecards and Khans hand will be raised but the boxing fans will know who won the fight.
I will not lay money on this fight due to it's in Khans backyard and we know the scoring is even worse there than it is here for hometown guys.
Having picked the winner with Clottey only for Cottos hand to be raised isn't a good feeling, but it's boxing politics.
Khan is the last of what England has left so they will be out in abundance to support Khan (including the judges).
People will be surprised Kotenlik is a very good boxer, great left jab, iron chin, good counter puncher, decent speed... nothing "off the charts" just like Clottey... one difference is Kotenlik doesn't go to the ropes he keeps it mostly in the middle and very easy for judges to see a fight.
Only knock I see against Kotenlik is that he drops his left hand sometimes and can be countered with a straight right... just like Clottey..
Freddie Roach is NOT a good trainer, he has pac-man all he did was hand pick two opponents that were washed up and easy to beat... any B- Fighter would have beaten Oscar and Hatton that night.
I love Pac-man but his recent two fights should not make him fighter of the year as he fought two men who were shot coming in.
Freddie Roach is way out of his league here easy to put Pac-man in the ring with washed up guys... but putting a very YOUNG 22 year old.. in the ring against a guy who has a better chin, better defense.. and MUCH better opposition.. is a very tough task.. would
I be taking this fight if I was Khan's mananger or trainer? NO!! He's only 22 years old.. only reason for putting him in is to make money quick before the chin is exposed by REAL fighters in their prime.
Kotenlik seems like a safe bet as he doesn't have a ton of power like Clottey but the punches DO sting, and Khans Chin... for 12 rounds.. HMM tough call!
Will be a good fight regardless..
Good luck Mack you have a lot of guts for putting a ton of money on Khan. I hope you're right ..but man this is a tough pick.. Khan by decision seems like the only answer for Khan.. and well for Kotenlik to win seems like he needs a KO because like Clottey the cards will already be made up..
If I had to make a play it would be kotenlik a very tiny one.. only for entertainment purposes the line is way too high and the likelihood of Kotenlik getting a decision in England is .. almost zero.
