Last night we saw 2 guys with bad footwork, no defense, poor coordination and not the power to really put the other on the canvas. Makes for good action. Good fight, I thought Kessler took it, Froch was too lacadaisical seemed to be waiting for the KO that never came.
I had Kessler winning 115-113. It was a clear victory IMO and no excuses for Froch. What I know after tonight is that neither man will win this. Boxers like Dirrell and Ward will be too slick for these guys. Sadly having Jermain Taylor in this tourament is going to cause a massive injustice. I think Froch beats Abraham because the home fighter wins that. This will be another war and the hometown fighter has a massive advantage and I think Froch takes this. Ward will beat Green easy (5-6 rounds on the cards) and will then beat Dirrell in a close fight. I just don't believe Dirrell truly believes he can beat Ward. The only way Ward losses this fight 1) if these guys have a gentlemans agreement as they are good mates outside of boxing but we have to assume all will be done fairly. 2) If the hunger is not there for Ward after already qualifying and he doesnt take this as serious as he should. Again I would be surprised but the above reasons will stop me ploughing in on Ward. I have him +1000 pre tournament (posted on this site) and that right now looks like pure gold.
Kessler will beat Green last fight. I really think Allanm Green belongs with the Bika's, Miranda's and Andrade's of this world. One notch down below elite level. Its then Lucian Butes no partcipation will be crucial as AA will get into the semi finals after winning just one fight! against a guy that should never been in the tournament. Dirrell who in my opinion beat Froch will be out and thats just wrong. The semi's will be Ward v Abraham and Kessler v Froch. And thats wrong as Dirrell should be there and won't be. Having a past it bum like Taylor in from the start has ruined what otherwise is a great idea.
I would loe to know what Happens if we have 3 already qualified and 2 others on 2 points. How is the last spot determined..
Walktheline I never thought I'd say this but Thanks..

Mack great right up. You spelt lackadaisical wrong though.
I agree with you about the way the tourny is setting up. I do think that Dirrell belongs in the semis and him not making it will be a shame. I also am in agree with you that Dirrell lacks confindence. I wish Dirrell knew how talented he is and I actually think he can beat Ward.
as far as Froch and Kessler;Froch is better than he looks. He looks and has terrible form but punches hard and is quicker than many give him credit for. I do disagree though on the AA and Froch fight. I think AA will beat Froch and will KO Froch. AA is the hardest puncher in the Tourny and Froch does take punches to the chin quite often. If you remember, Dirrell hurt Froch in the fight and if AA hits him solid then Froch will not finish the fight.
This is the best tourny I have seen in my life and am so excited to see the rest. Your Ward bet looks beautiful right now, the only guy that I think can beat him is Dirrell which most likely will not happen.

I think 18 months to 2 years is a long time to wait so who knows where Lucian Bute will be. There really aren't enough opponents out there for Bute and IF he still fights the same standard of opponents he will get slaughtered against Andre Ward (who will win the super 6 IMO) in America. The super 6 winner aint travelling to Montreal, simple as. You can't keep fighting the same level of opponent at home and expect to beat the Super 6 winner who has been fighting top level opponents for 2 years. I think the only real options Bute has now are Pavlik or Chad Dawson. He could try get a unification bout against the Hungarian guy but I don't see that fight being made. For me Bute should target the winner of Dawson and Pascal. Dawson is travelling to Montreal to face Pascal for one reason. The guy can't sell. In fact I would sell an arena faster . The point I am making is that I believe Dawson beats Pascal. I think Pascal is tailor made for him and I think we will see a mega fight between Bute v Pascal at the end of the year or start of the next. This is a big money fight for both. I don't see Dawson fighting a guy like Cloud or another decent Light heabyweight. Escpecially since the guy hasn't made any real money yet. Anyway I know I am babbling but I believe we will see just how good Bute is against a quality fighter like Dawson. That's a cracking matchup and very tough to call, especially with Bute at home. If Bute wins that, he would be guarenteed the super 6 winner.
Pavlik, I think is done. The guy clearly has personal issues and I just don't see him making a comeback as a top level fighter. There is no one in the middleweight division for him to fight. Pavlik's stock has gone down to the point that if a Bute fight were to be made he would have to travel to Montreal. I don't see that happening. Will be interesting to see what happens with Pavlik but I think he takes a comeback fight against a bum and then slowly disappears.
As, I mentioned above I think Dawson would move to 168 to fight Bute but I would expect this fight to made at a catchweight like 172. I think Dawson travelling to Canada nto face Pascal tells you all you need to know. He has been a champ awhile now and he hasn't made serious money. Dawson v Bute in Canada is a big money fight and I think for both guys it has to happen. There just aren't any real alternatives for both.
Joe Calzaghe will never return IMO. His undefeated record means everything to him. The only possible way for a return is if Froch pulled out of the super 6 and a mega fight was set for Cardiff. I just don't see that happening. Calazghe would not in a million years fight guys like Ward, Bute or Dawson. Those fights are way to dangerous to him now. But I bet when he saw Froch the weekend he thought I could beat this guy easy, even now. There is alot of money to be made in this fight and it would nearly sell out Wembley stadium or another big football ground. I just don't see it happening
